Torneo Clausura: San Lorenzo crowned in style
Time, distance and resources keep me from posting much stuff about the local Argentine league.
But Today I thought I wrote a few paragraphs about the new Clausura champions: San Lorenzo.
For you to understand, there are two short tournaments (19 weeks each) per season in Argentina.
The first half of the season (Apertura tournament), Estudiantes were champions after beating Boca Juniors in the final match, because both teams finished the 19 weeks with the same number of points.
It wasn't the case to play a final match for the Clausura. With one game to go to the end of the season, San Lorenzo kept an advantage of 4 points over Boca Juniors with a 4-2 win over Arsenal de Sarandí.
It is San Lorenzo's 10th league title since football became professional in Argentina in 1930.
With manager Ramón DIAZ (he played for Argentina in Spain 1982 World Cup), they will now try and win the next Copa Libertadores, a major continental trophy that they are still to win.
Congratulations to San Lorenzo de Almagro. Clausura 2007 Champions with 13 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses.
