Little Hoops In Novi Sad, Serbia

Argentina endured an almighty struggle against Korea on the opening day of the FIBA U19 World Championship but struck back from a seven-point deficit in the second half and won 91-85.

With the game having been tight for the entire first half and the opening six minutes of the third quarter, Korea managed to raise their level of play and seize a 63-56 advantage on a three-point play by Seung Won KIM.

Our “Little Hoops” tied the contest at 67-67 by the end of third quarter, but the Koreans again surged into a 73-67 lead after consecutive three-pointers by Min Seob KIM and Yoo Min PARK.

With 8:25 remaining in the contest, Argentina finally caught fire and not only pulled level, but raced ahead.

Sebastian URANGA started a 13-0 spurt with a three-ball, and Nicolas AGUIRRE followed with a lay-up.

Jonathan MACHUDA and Diego GERBAUDO hit consecutive shots from the arc before Federico AGUERRE capped the run with a dunk for an 80-73 lead.

GERBAUDO was the team best performer, posting 16 points, 8 rebounds & 8 assists

Speaking of basketball, the San Antonio Spurs have given the Houston Rockets the acquired rights of Luis SCOLA, which were in possession of the NBA champs.

Since Greg POPOVICH is not showing any interest in having SCOLA joining his team, we'll see if this move gives him a chance to arrive to the NBA!

I've been looking for Little Argentina goals from our victory against Poland at the U20 World Cup.

Now we will have a sensational double-header on Sunday!

With the big guns playing for the Copa America's title against Brazil and the little boys facing Mexico in the Youth World Cup most exciting quarter-final match.

I've seen Sergio AGÜERO's goals and one if more beautiful than the other! Lovely stuff!

As soon as I can get a link for the videos, I'll post it here.

Oh..by the way...the girls won too!

Argentina defeated Panama 2-0 in the opening match of the women's football tournament at the Rio 2007 Pan-Am Games.

Thanks for the info Seba,

It has been due time that SCOLA should play in the NBA; after all he was made for that league.

Looking forward to an exciting weekend ahead and do keep us posted on all the latest happening in the Pan-Am Games

Hopefully if both Argentine teams win, this weekend should be full of celebration!

Actually...make that 3, Roy!

Argentina will make their debut at the PanAm Games football competition also on Sunday!

Due to the Copa America and the Youth World Cup being played in the same period, Argentina came to Rio de Janeiro with an U18 team that will face Haiti in their first Group C match.

A super sunday for the Albiceleste!
