It’s the middle of the week and I’m pretty that there are some of us here might be just going through some tough time at work. What a better remedy there can be than to see more and more goals scored by the Albiceleste Army throughout Europe.
Of course it can’t get any bigger than the Super El Clasico in Spain. A night for every Real fans to remember and for every Barca fans to forget. Of all things it was Barca who had to perform the Guard of Honour role in the most unlikely place, Santiago Bernabau.
Just as he did during the weekend, the spotlight was once again on Gonzalo HIGUAIN during this special occasion. Coming in the second half for Arjen ROBBEN, he strikes a classy goal in the 63rd minute. Real went on to win the game 4-1.
Real Mallorca must thank Oscar TREJO for keeping their hopes alive to play in next season’s UEFA Cup. He scored the winning goal in their 2-1 win over Osasuna in stoppage time.
Federico FAZIO was the toast for Sevilla after a brace in their 3-0 away win over Racing Santander. He opened the scoring with first half header and added a second with a calm finish after the break. The win allowed them to move into fourth place, on level points with Atletico Madrid.
In the only sour note in Spain, was Lucas LICHT scoring an own goal against Almeria. But what a comeback it was from Getafe who went on to win the game 4-2.
It’s been a while since we’ve heard much about him but yesterday Javier PINOLA got everyone attention once again. He scored his first goal of the season of the season with a 20-yard drive in FC Nurnberg 2-0 win over MSV Duisburg.
Inter Milan are on track in winning the league and cup double in Italy after defeating Lazio 2-0. A poor clearance by Marco BALLOTTA allowed Julio CRUZ to tap in Inter’s second goal.
Javier ZANETTI could not hide his delight after the game. "We really wanted this final and we are happy to have made it,'' he said. "I think we played well and now we must recover our energies in view of Sunday's game.''
Some NBA News...
Walter HERRMANN played for almost 13 minutes in Detroit Pistons 86-111 loss against the Orlando Magic. He posted 4 points and 1 rebound. The Pistons lead the series 2-1.
