Once upon a time, the Ligue 1 was regarded as the crazy world of French football. Between 1994 to 2001, no team has manage to retain the league title after it has won the previous years. The arrival of Olympique Lyonnais, changed all that.
This season Girondins Bordeaux did tried to put Lyon sixth consecutive league title to and end as they travel to play against Lens. Their effort was strengthened by the arrival of Fernando CAVENAGHI whose goals exploit has taken them just two point behind Lyon.
Unfortunately, despite Cavegol scoring in the 66th minute to put them in the lead, the match ended in 2-2 draw. However as a consolation, Bordeaux will finished second and qualified automatically to the Champions League group stage next season.
But for me, what a revelation has CAVENAGHI turned out to be for them. Don't forget that not too long ago he was lost in the freezing Russian winter. This season, he is Bordeaux top scorer with 22 goals in all competition.
I'm happy to know he has found a place for himself in France and will be looking forward to see showing his worth in club football biggest stage next season.
