Exciting weekend indeed for football lovers. From El Clasico in England to Super Clasico made in Buenos Aires. So lets take one thing at a time.
Firstly, another sending off for Javier MASCHERANO in Liverpool’s remarkable 2-0 win over Manchester United. Then Carlitos Manchester City failing to collect all three points after settling for a 2-2 draw Fulham, despite going 2-0 up.
Then up to Spain as always, another five star performance from Lionel MESSI (or should I say six star) as Barcelona turned around their dreadful form over the past few games with a 6-1 win over Real Zaragoza. He scored Barca’s fifth goal after being put through Andres INIESTA and he beat keeper Juan Pablo CARIZZO with an exquisite lob. Not to forget his cross for Seydou KETIA that started the goal fest for them for the Blaugrana.
In Portugal, two goals from Ernesto FARIAS plus one from Mariano GONZALEZ help FC Porto to a 3-2 win over Academica. After stunning week in the Champions League, FK Rubin continued their great form in the Russia Premier League with a 2-1 win over FK Rostov with goals from Alejandro DOMINGUEZ and Christian ANSALDI. in Greece, AEK Athens settle for a 1-1 draw away to Aris Salonika with Ignacio SCOCCO the scorer.
Lastly the biggest match in the Argentine league, River Plate against eternal rival Boca Juniors. First Ariel ORTEGA missed a penalty. Rumours has it he might be called up by Diego for next month friendlies. Marcelo GALLARDO put River ahead with a nice free kick over the wall and into the top left corner past Pato ABBONDANZIERI. The equalizer from Boca came from, who else but Martin PALERMO after receiving a flicked pass from, who else; Juan Roman RIQUELME.

That back pass from Riquelme was a beautiful thing.
Such a sweet, quick pass from Roman that it was easy to miss. At first glance it was as if the ball had just mysteriously appeared in front of Palermo's big foot !:)
Ortega is in next month, it's offical by el diego
Though I respect Ortega, his inclusion is much more of a joke than Palermo's. He looked like an old man yesterday against Boca, missed a penalty and blatantly faked his way into an ill deserved red card for Caceres.
oh, Gallardo...what a player he was. the NT never used his tallent.
i agree Mohd, Gallardo is one of my all time favorite playmakers, pure class! Too bad Argentina never capitalized on him. If Diego is going this far in making these joke call-ups (Palermo, Schiavi, Ortega...etc), then i definitely wouldnt mind Gallardo.
only ROMAN can do that.what a pass that was,i wished he didnt quit,i miss him alot because he represnt tradetional argentine passing at its best.
