The Eagles Hit The Top In Europe

No! No! This has got nothing to do with Don HENLEY and those Desperados from Hotel California.

It’s Benfica, thanks to the superb performance from both Angel DI MARIA and Javier SAVIOLA, produced a masterpiece display against Everton in the Europa League yesterday, as they hammered the Toffees 5-0.

The Eagles made the breakthrough in the 14th minute with a superb half-volley from SAVIOLA after a cross field pass from DI MARIA split the defense. Not to mentioned both of them combined to help Oscar CARDOZO scoring two goals. Brazilian LUISAO made it 4-0 and SAVIOLA completed the rout in the 83rd minute, courtesy of another cross from DI MARIA.

Lazio defeated Villareal 2-1 at home, adding more woes to the Yellow Submarine who know occupy the bottom of La Liga. In the 20th minute, a quick ball forward picked out Julio CRUZ, who turned inside his marker before feeding Mauro ZARATE on the far side of the box and he dinked the ball past Diego LOPEZ.

Other scorer from Europa League; Hernan LOSADA was the hero for Heerenveen in their 1-0 away win against Hertha Berlin. Ismael BLANCO scoring from the spot for AEK Athen but the Greek side fell 1-2 against BATE Borisov of Belarus.

That Benfica win was fun to watch. It's nice to see Saviola in the mix, and if Di Maria can play at that level consistently and with discipline, he should be a fixture on the NT for a long time. What a quick first step he has and great ball control.

if saviola keeps this up he should be in the nt, he is a team player and goal scorer and very humble.
when on form i rate him above tevez/aguro an would like to see him with hig in the attack.
sav has never become a bad player he just has not got the chance to play till his benfica move.
