Two Albiceleste Super Subs!

The UEFA Champions League resumed earlier today as Manchester United hosted FC Porto. With the score tied 1-1, Sir Alex brought on Carlos TEVEZ as a substitute in the 72nd minute. 13 minutes later, TEVEZ gave Sir Alex exactly what he needed, a goal! Off a throw in, Wayne ROONEY flicked the ball in the air to TEVEZ who blasted the ball into the back of the net!

However it didn't end there. 4 minutes following TEVEZ's goal, another Albiceleste player put his name on the scoresheet. And once again, that player was a substitute! 2004 Oylmpic Gold Medalist with Argentina, Mariano RODRIGUEZ(though he prefers being called MARIANO) gave his team another precious away goal 1 minute before the end of regular time. Lisandro LOPEZ's cross was flicked on by John O'SHEA which landed infront of MARIANO who was unmarked as he was left alone infront of Edwin VAN DER SAAR. The second leg is next Wednesday in Portugal with the score 2-2.

In total, 4 Argentina players took part in the match. 2 started and 2 were substitutes. Lucho GONZALEZ, Lisandro LOPEZ and MARIANO for FC Porto while Carlos TEVEZ was the only Albiceleste representative for Manchester United.

In other Champions League Argentina news, Gonzalo RODRIGUEZ played the full 90 minutes for Villarreal and Ariel IBAGAZA played 78 minutes as Villarreal and Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw in Spain.

I don't have a link but what an amazing feeling it was to see Lisandro LOPEZ and Mariano GONZALEZ (both, proud products of Racing Club's youth system) combining to score a vital 2nd goal for Porto at Old Trafford!

It was nice to see TEVEZ doing what he is used to do: scoring crucial goals.

COSTA played only for a few minutes before he had to be replaced with what looked to be a broken nose.

In for COSTA was Andrés MADRID, another Argentine!

Fernando of porto is good. I hope an argentina player can play like him.

Is Fernando better than Zuculini honestly?
