MESSI: "It's impossible to play in the altitude"

On his way to Barcelona, Lionel MESSI talked to the media at the Ezeiza airport.

This is what he said:

"We didn't expect to lose. Let alone losing by such a margin".

"I'm hurt. Without wanting to make excuses, we struggled to play there. They hit us at every right moment in the match. Bolivia had a perfect game and we couldn't match them".

"They never stopped and they were faster than we were".

"Personally, I think playing in La Paz is impossible, but there's no excuse. All the teams in this qualification campaign have to go and play there".

he says it's not an excuse...but personally Messi feels that it is impossible to play there. This gives us more of the players perspective of what it was like. If one of the best, if not the best player in the world, comes out ans says its impossible to play in La Paz.

Messi is right. Without making excuse he gave his personal opinion and that just shows how hard is it to play there. Believe me guys, it does matter hugely. I am from a country where we usually have a huge area very high above sea level. Our capital is also above 900m but still people who regularly live in 3000m die when they go above over 4000m. It is indeed very hard. I am not saying that football should not be played at all but either they should be acclimatised or maybe somewhere else in Bolivia. I mean if it was the most important game of the qualifier, we would have been mighty pissed off.

Coincidentally I was thinking Messi would say something so I was searching for news about him, so thanks seba for the news.

Hope to see him back in action in the champions league.

For a player like Messi to come out and say that it's impossible to play in altitude, then I don't know how some people can think that altitude was not a problem.

I'm glad he didn't blame it all on the altitude and actually said that they were better than us, because clearly they were.
