A Saturday To Remember

What a Saturday it turned out to be? The drama was there, the excitement was beyond anyone's imagination and the outcome was pure joy.

First was the Men's basketball team when they took on Iran. The Iranian's showed plenty of character in their game and for this I have to respect them. But once our guys got their grip on the game, there was no turning back.
They outclassed their opponent in every aspect to win the game 97-82. Manu GINOBILI lead the way with 32 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 1 block shot. Luis SCOLA also contributed big with 20 points, 7 rebounds & 2 steals.
Next up the women's hockey team face Germany in their pool match. Luciana AYMAR showed just why she is the world’s best player as Las Leonas overcame the Germans 4-0, putting themselves firmly within reach of a semi final spot. Goals from Claudia BURKART, Alejandra GULLA (2) and a terrific strike from La Maga AYMAR gave them the victory, and now need to beat bottom side New Zealand to seal their progress into the medal matches.

And then the Under-23 football team took the Netherlands in their quarter-final clash. Watched by non other than the Great Diego MARADONA, Lionel MESSI echoed every single move of the great one to inspire the Albiceleste to victory.
The 56,000 people in the Shanghai Stadium could never be wrong. They came to see our stars despite knowing the 100m Final (what a race and congratulation Usain “Lightning” BOLT!) was going on in between of the match. It was money all worth it for them as MESSI scored one fantastic goal and set up the another for Angel DI MARIA to sent the Dutch packing.

By the way, I kept wondering who is that “Anonymous” (thanks for the results on Sailing) that often posts comment on all the latest results on our blog. Please don't by shy, introduce yourself to us.

Thanks John for your visit. In fact, Argentina is always showing how to work in teams. That is something your country has develop very long. In Mar del Plata 1995, you won every single title of tema sports. You won all them. That is something totally amazing. Happy with your progressing in the Olympic Basketball, mad with your female Fielhockey Team & having fun with your football tema (unless your are still wasting time with your unhearted conductor, Román Riquelme, who does not represent your class of sportspeople). Hoping you are going to get your best, and specially hoping the Leonas to find the gold, best regards to all the Mundo Albiceleste Team. Keep pushing for development!!!

Hello guys!

Sorry abt not posting some comments when i need to. Was grumpy about not being able to watch the match and finally could watch the quarter finals from the 2nd half and was just nearly finish bitting all my nails..Thanks existence we have that lil boy who is just 4 days older then me:-D

Sorry about not commenting on other sports though, I just am not such a big fan of other sports then football but as always i just want then to win whatever wherever they play.

So its brazil guys! Please have the match thread a bit sooner so that we can have some discussions already cause i bet this one is going to be the finals in many ways.

Bad that we dont have ustari but romero showed alot of confidence and from what i saw in u21 world cup, he shouldn be that bad. i see our future no 1 in carrizo and romero. duno if m right or wrong though.

So up we go, hope and pray we win.

Vamos albiceleste

Akash! Yes I do remember you. And thank you so much for keeping us updated on the latest news involving Argentina.

Great news about DEL POTRO and I hope just maybe he can carry this form into the US Open.

By the way, the match between Argentina & Holland must have had some sentimental moment for you considering the number of Surinamese born players on the Dutch team.
