Coco's List For Belarus Friendly

Currently as I’m posting this article, the Senoritas Albiceleste will be taking on Canada in their opening group game. Almost 24 hours later, the men will begin to defend the gold medal against Cote D’Ivoire. But for now I would like to stop that movement just for the time being. Coco BASILE has named the squad list for the friendly against Belarus, which is schedule to be played on the 20th this month (appreciate if anyone could confirm on this) in Minsk.

Here are the lists of 18 players named by Coco.

Goalkeeper

Roberto ABBONDANZIERI (Getafe-Spain)
Juan Pablo CARRIZO (Lazio-Italy)

Defender

Gabriel HEINZE (Real Madrid-Spain)
Gonzalo RODRIGUEZ (Villareal-Spain)
Javier ZANETTI (Internazionale-Italy)
Nicolas BURDISSO (Internazionale-Italy)
Fabricio COLOCCINI (Newcastle United-England)
Martin DEMICHELIS (Bayern Munich-Germany)

Midfielder

Maxi RODRIGUEZ (Atletico Madrid-Spain)
Esteban CAMBIASSO (Internazionale-Italy)
Pablo LEDESMA (Catania-Italy)
Luis GONZALEZ (FC Porto-Portugal)
Jonas GUTIERREZ (Newcastle United-England)

Forward

German DENIS (Napoli-Italy)
Lisandro LOPEZ (FC Porto-Portugal)
Mariano GONZALEZ (FC Porto-Portugal)
Carlos TEVEZ (Manchester United-England)
Fernando CAVENAGHI (Bordeaux-France)

First thing is that, am I glad to see Julio CRUZ nowhere in the list. Finally Coco is beginning to use his sense and we just might get to see more action from Licha or Cavegol. Interesting to see Mariano GONZALEZ’s named in that list as he did forged a good partnership with Licha at Porto last season.

TEVEZ, as expected, was called back after missing out the last couple of assignments. Also included are the newly converted Toon Armies (GUTIERREZ and COLOCCINI). Another returnee is Lucho GONZALEZ, whom Coco often overlooks in the past. I have a feeling that Lucho’s will be best used to fill in Roman’s playmaking position. Speaking of which, it looks like Coco has not call upon Pablo AIMAR.

However much of this I supposed is also due to the fact that some of the other players (MESSI, KUN, MASCHERANO, and ROMAN etc.) are currently in Beijing.

Having said that (and not to disrespect any Belarus supporters here) considering the standard of our opponent, this is a strong line up. I’m pretty sure the home team lead by Aliaksandr HLEB will provide some stern test for our players as well.

On a side note. The goal from Manicler was a thing of beauty. Pure golaso!! I watched part of the game and we looked pretty good. I think we will compete in all the games. You can watch all the games on www.nbcolympics.com

enjoy!!

I can understand how everyone must be feeling right now. I’m gutted as well. I just hope MESSI will just defied Barca and choose to stay instead. He has nothing to loose. I wouldn’t worry too much if I were him. I’m sure many clubs in the world will do anything to have him.

Only an idiot will pass on a gem like him.

But sad to say, all the respect for Barca has just gone down to the toilet. I’m beginning to feel more like an All-White from Madrid at this moment.

I hope Messi plays in the Olympics then move to Real Madrid. (Now that C Ronaldo is staying with ManU, Real can spend the money on him.)

I'd like to see Lucho Figueroa, for some reason he always very well for Arg.

Anybody know about a kid named Nicolas Mazzola, some say he is a up and coming player in Arg. I heard he played well in last years U-17 WC and should be in next years U-20 WC team. He is a product of Independiente, he is 18years old. I heard West Ham were looking at him. You know when I see 18years old I am like thats old ,Messi and Kun were 18 and were killing it, I guess we have been spoiled.

Mazzola is okay, but there is a lot of upcoming talent in the youth sides.
