Football News & Much More

UEFA Champions League...

It was great to see Javier MASCHERANO in the starting line up for Liverpool as the REDS has got one foot already in the Semi-Finals with a 3-0 away win over PSV Eindhoven.

This news really does make me happy after all the turbulence that he and CARLITOS had to go through since their transfer to English Football. Although I must admit I was skeptical about their presence on whether they will adapt to the EPL standard but the way both players have come out from their dreadful start is simply magnificent.

With TEVEZ in scoring mood and JAVIER being in the starting line up for their respective teams, I can't wait to see them both in action this coming weekend.

Tall Albicelestes In Action

NBA…

The Charlotte BOBCATS are pushing hard for the final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference and Walter HERRMANN is playing an important role in this pursue. In today’s game against the Washington WIZARDS the BOBCATS prevailed with a 122-102 win and HERRMANN has 21 points to his credit.

Both Manu GINOBILI and Fabricio OBERTO were in action for San Antonio SPURS against the Seattle SUPERSONICS. Only this time surprisingly OBERTO had the better off his National Team colleague by scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds while MANU had 8 points and 5 assists.
Carlos DELFINO had a quiet night as he only got 1 point and 2 rebounds. Nevertheless he had his part in Detroit PISTONS 100-85 win over the Indiana PACERS.

Euroleague…

Luis SCOLA had 8 points and 9 rebound as Tau CERAMICA had an amazing 84-59 victory over Greek side Olympiacos.

In All-Spanish affair, Juan “PEPE” Sanchez had 5 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists as his team Unicaja triumph over Winterthur FCB by 91-75

Thanks for the info, John!

I was thinking last night and just how tricky life can be!

Javier MASCHERANO was destined to warm the bench at Upton Park while the team were struggling for survival in the Premiership.

Now Rafa "The Gaffa" BENITEZ called him up to join his Liverpool side and with the result from last night at Eindhoven, he is only 2 games away from playing his first Champions League final!!!!

What about that?

As for CARLITOS...I couldn't be more delighted watching him score every week! This is the CARLITOS we all know and now the English public is starting to appreciate him.

If only PARDEW or CURBS have played him in his position earlier on...

Now the Hammers will face Arsenal and I really hope CARLITOS bangs in another one as they boost their survival chances.

Glad to see Walter HERRMANN doing so well. It appears that he have won a place as a starter in Charlotte's lineup and he will keep it because he has demonstrated that he is a true warrior on the court (and even more so off the court).

Hi There,

Was pretty nervous to write my first article but thankfully it all came out well. Now I’m getting excited to write my next article as I have a few things in mind already.

It was a great night for Roberto AYALA as Valencia manages to hold Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Great to see Sir Alex FERGUSSON having faith in Gaby HEINZE as once again he is in the starting line for Man Utd. Unfortunately the Red Devils went down to Roma 2-1.

Judging by both games, there is still plenty much to play for in the second leg.

Pablo, I’m referring back to your comments on the previous posting. Both Seba and me will be very delighted if you can write for us a report plus with some photos and we will happily publish it in this blog.

And for the name on the back your jersey, it doesn’t matter at all. It is more important the team you represent not the name. I love Argentina because of Diego Maradona and even though he has long retired my love for them have always been the same. Nothing can change that.

Subh, great to have you back my friend. So I supposed the reason that you’ve been away for a long time must be due to the Cricket World Cup fever. I’m really sad for you on team India early elimination.

Once again the Charlotte BOBCATS beat the Washington WIZARDS by 108-100 and Walter HERRMANN manages 20 points and 9 rebounds.

Meanwhile Detroit PISTONS went down to a CHAPU-less Chicago BULLS by 88-106 with Carlos DELFINO notching 7 points and 6 rebounds.

The Champions League quarters have been really good matches. Three of them are wide open and the other one had a good performance from Mascherano.

Benitez seems to have instilled a lot of confidence in Javier and is being repaid with genuine world class quality.

Any news of Roman's performance with Boca Juniors as well as Basile's preparations with the team that he has called?

John, Indian cricket team unforunately were not good enough for the second phase. I feel as bad as I had felt in 2002. I was dreaming of the Cup - had never imagined that we will get knocked out in the first round itself.

The coach has resigned after accusing the senior players of acting like a 'mafia'. Players have accused the coach of being untruthful and using media to manipulate players. The rift could not have come at a worse time. No wonder a team that reached the finals last time crashed out in first round itself.
