Cry for me Argentina!

A couple of days ago, John published an article about Walter HERRMANN. Now I've got some bad news to share with you.

It's been known, after Walter spoked with an American newspaper recently, that he won't be taking part of our team to play the Olympic Qualifying tournament this year in Las Vegas.

So Argentina will be without him and others in the absents list could be:

Manu GINOBILI (99% out, even though he didn't announce it yet)
Fabricio OBERTO
Andrés NOCIONI (if he extends his contract with Chicago Bulls then the chances for him to play in Las Vegas will be better)

Now, some of those players have physical reasons to pull out of the tournament. Some others have contract concerns and might prioritise their future in the NBA and there are other cases in which the player/s simply don't agree with coach Sergio HERNANDEZ.

Pepe SANCHEZ is still to decide, while the only stand-out player from our starting lineup in the last World Championship to have confirmed his presence is Luis SCOLA.

We'll see what happens in the next few days, but it sure doesn't look good at all.

I would hate for Argentina to miss out on qualification for Beijing 2008 where we should be going with our morale sky-high to defend our gold.

If this is the case then there is plenty to worry about. Especially Walter’s case as he just notched 20 points, 6 rebounds & 2 assists to help the Charlotte BOBCATS beat the defending champion Miami Heat 92-82.
