Messi, Scola, David Cup & More

Firstly, thank you to everyone for all the good wishes for our friend Seba on the birth of his first son. It was indeed a perfect moment for him and Racing as they came away with a 2-1 win over Boca Juniors.

Ten men Barcelona came back twice to draw 2-2 with Almeria with Lionel MESSI being their saviour for scoring both goals. His first came just three minutes before half time when he beat Almeria keeper, Diego ALVES with a well taken free kick. He was there save them again, this time finishing from close range after GUILHERME failed to clear a cross from PEDRO in the 66th minute.

In other leagues, Matias SUAREZ scored for Anderlecht in their 2-0 win over Royal Charleroi in their Belgian Jupiter League.

SCOLA Rides The Struggling Rockets To Victory

The Houston Rockets needed a major boost following their recent struggles and against the Minnesota Timberwolves they found an answer in Luis SCOLA. Their 112-98 win help them to revive their chances in the playoff race. SCOLA posted another double-double in his career posting 25 points, a career high 21 rebounds, 2 assists and one shot block for the night.

The San Antonio Spurs are riding high at the moment and kept that momentum going with a 102-92 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Manu GINOBILI continues their sparkplug from the bench with 17 points, 1 rebound, 6 assists & 1 steal to his credit.

The city were treated to a surprise win from their beloved Bucks after sensationally defeating Le Bron’s Cleveland Cavaliers 92-85. The got plenty of contribution from everywhere including 16 points, career high 13 rebounds plus 1 assist & 2 steals from Carlos DELFINO.

Davis Cup - Triumphant Return from the Old Warrior NALBANDIAN

Argentina bounced back to take the lead against Sweden in their tie 2-1 after a sparkling performance from David NALBANDIAN on his return to the team. He was paired up Horacio ZEBALLOS in their double match up against Robin SODERLING & Robert LINDSTEDT and won the game 6-2, 7-6 & 7-6.

A day earlier, the tie was settle to 1-1 draw. Eduardo SCHWANK lost to SODERLING in straight sets but Leonardo MAYER became the hero for the racquet kings after defeating Joachim JOHANSSON in four sets.

Argentina will just need one more victory to win this tie. The match on Day 3 will be MAYER taking on SODERLING and SCHWANK facing JOHANSSON.

Adidas launches it own Albiceleste website

Thanks to our friend GK for sharing this with us. Adidas has just launched a specially design website for Argentina World Cup campaign. Here you can find videos, pictures, desktop wallpaper and many more. Though it is in Spanish but still I would highly recommend fans of Argentina to visit and check it out.

I am truly hating Messi for what he is doing now. Being more than a superstar with Barcelona, no matter what the situation is, but when it comes to Argentina, he is just lost out there, and wanna do everything by him self.

I don't want to get into this again, but he is out of position with the albiceleste, and he also doesn't have support like he does with barca. You can't expect him to preform the same with both teams, different players, different positions, different styles of football. Football is a team game, one man can't do it all. He also trains with barca all the time. He only gets to play with Argentina every couple months for a couple days at a time

It's amazing that Messi is becoming better in free kicks!!!

Abs: You shouldn't have grudge over Messi's performance for us because he doesn't get the support he needs. This can be done if Maradona plays a 4-3-3 with Higuain on the left, Milito in the center and Messi in his perferred right and Banega operating as Xavi and Di Maria as Iniesta and Mascherano as Busquets. I guarrantee you this system will work but unfortunately it's up to Maradona to figure it out and Veron is his preffered choice to Banega.

Mascherano
------Banega -------------Di Maria

Messi---------------------Higuain
--------------Milito-------------

I am starting to think, that Maradona just dont want Messi become a legend. he specialy plays Messi there, where he fail.
Maradona himself want to be god forever, I can sense it when i look his face....

He can say what press woluld like, but I think thats the way it is

"liisi" i also sence maradona does notwant messi to become bigger then him.
"messidona19" i agree with you as well and your formation.
"mike" what you say is also true but the real blame lies at diegos feet for not playing and building a barca systym around him as we do have the players to allow messi to become "free" as barca do but diego wont change tactics, formations and wont pick the correct players to allow this.

guys,
Maradona is playing 4-3-3. Di Maria is a left winger. This is not the problem.
The bigger problem is that Maradona does not know tactics. and the midfield he trusts lacks any form of creativity. Another problem is that we do not have fullbacks which are very important attacking role in modern football. so all in all we always go back to the bigger picture: we have no system of play. 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 is not exactly the problem.

anyway, i have only hope that when Messi gets with the team for couple of weeks before the WC then he will have time to adjust himself and play better.

i think the people shouldn't expect messi to create wonders at the wc. we can happy if he won't get injured in the groupstage. he will be attacked and fouled in every game harder than in his full career.

maybe he whould only play as a substitite in the group stage or only till the point when it is clear Argentina wins the game, then take him out.

that would work also and gives 3 solid cb's

we dont need 4

with 2 wingers we can let zabaletta and janus play there natural wing back like rolls

there no wingers or attackers really

"anomymos" the difference is all those systyms build teams around their star players.
maradona does not seem to know what he is really doing at all be it systym or tactics.
if players are not given direction they will be headless chickens and thats what we have with messi in the nt.

To anonymous who called Messi fuk head. Well, u are a disgrace as an Argentine/Argentina fan. I have a feeling that u must be a portuguese or a madridista, hid ur identity and came to bash on Messi. A$shole.

to Anonymous with LARGE FONT

all the crap that you said just proves how ignorant you are.

Kaka for example is having nightmares at Real. why? because the system at Real is created around Ronaldo. only when Ronaldo was missing did Kaka played well.

Zidane, you ignorant, had the full system built around him and had coaches that know tactics building these systems.

As for Messi playing with his head down. I am 100% sure that just last year, Messi had more assists than Kaka, Ronaldo, Veron combined. his passing vision is amazing.

I always critisize Messi for a lot of stuff. but i will do it with Arg fans, not with people like you!

Anonymous said...

I not agree with whom critisize Messi. In last match against Germany, he actually good, not excellent one off course. He created space for team mates. Coz opponents will keep haunting him with 3-4 back defense. That's why Veron and Di Maria got a lot of chance. For sure, Messi improve a lot. He's more team player than individualistic. Messi as a team player is more important for Argentina. He doesn't need to score or run and dribbles all the way in the opponents defense. Be fair, even Carlos Menotti admit it! Maradona intelligently make Messi more useful for team. We need a time and in preparation next May, NT found it's style and more sharp.
