Inter Goes Down But Milito Strikes Again.

Looks like the finale on Serie A is getting tighter than ever after league leaders Inter Milan went down 1-2 to As Roma in Rome.

Daniele DE ROSSI opened the scoring in the 17th minute but the visitors came close to equalizer through Walter SAMUEL and Diego MILITO but were denied by the crossbar. The moment finally came in the 66th minute when MILITO fired in from close range after being fed by Wesley SNEIJDER.

However the Roman side restores their lead immediately through Luca TONI. Luck was not on Inter’s side again when MILITO was denied after his shot rebounded off the near post.

The other Albiceleste scorer from Saturday’s fixture came in the French Ligue 1, with César DELGADO became the hero for Lyon 2-0 wins against Grenoble finishing off a wonderful move in added time.

Also a big congratulation to both Gabriel HEINZE and Lucho GONZALEZ for helping their club Olympic Marseille winning the Coupe de la Ligue against Bordeaux.

I hate to bring this up again, but I was thinking about it during Inter's game .. Do I really wanna see Milito in the NT ?
well, as a sub only !!

I have nothing against Milito, coz the guy knows how to score. But I've loved Argentina for the quality players they always have, and Milito guy just remind me of people the like of Inzaghi, Heskey, .. etc.

Looking back at Argentina forwards, for sure I would pick Messi, Tevez, Aguero, Higuain, Lopez and maybe even Lavizzi. Coz these guys don't just score goals, but they create game and play different roles at one time. Maybe they aren't No. 9 type of players, except for Higuain, and Lopez, but still, I wouldn't hold a place for someone who can't wear more than one hat.

That's just me.

Are you kidding me? Milito is very similar to Higuain, He tracks back, gets involved in the game and doesn't just sit there wait for the ball. He works hard for the team, doesn't lose the ball like Tevez stupidly does.
There's no way Aguero, Tevez,Lopez or Lavezzi are currently ahead of him in the attack.

Milito is similar to Juan Esnaider. They both would do well if the team put total trust in him. However, if the team lacks of faith in him, then he doesn't play good. That's the typical of flamboyant striker. Frankly speaking, Milito would never be that good for Argentina. Why? Because the team puts their faith in Messi. Flamboyant strikers like Milito or Tevez or Esnaider or Totti needs to have his teammates trusted him at all times. Milito isn't as "striker" as Figueroa (Luciano) or Inzaghi or Bierhoff in that they need to be as close as possible to the penalty area to be dangerous. He's not a "playmaker forward" either like Tevez or Aguero or Totti. Milito is a mixed between them.
Guys, only if we trust him the way we trusted Batigol in 1990's era, we would see the real Milito. Otherwise, I agree with Abs, many other Argentina forwards are more effective. I'm not saying it's Tevez, but someone else. Milito had a very bad game against Norway (STARTING) or something and was a disappointment in Copa America. Crespo looked good, but when he got injured, Milito was a pure downgrade. That's why Tevez was preffered. In comparison, Lisandro Lopez started and immediately scored against Russia. Aguero had a couple of good games when starting, like aganst Russia (MOM) and Mexico (friendly) and as #9 in Olympics. Palermo is a supersub. Higuain is the best one (rare species). So that's the fact.

I remember Juan Esnaider had a lot of fans back then. The same went to Leonardo Rodriguez, but they are not for national teams. That's what make football so unique.

damn that Inter game made me loose my temper...3 crossbars in such a close game is very cruel!
Milito was very unlucky but he probably should have been better with his finishing.

by the way, anybody watched Palermo's game? Pastore was really very good and the way he plays indicates that he is very mature although he is 20 or 21...i would love to have him as a starter in the WC instead of the dead-finished Veron.

@ Mohd

For sure you lost your tempor coz you are an Inter fan, but the funny thing is, regardless to the number of poor finishes Milito had in that game, I am afraid to tell you that 90% of those were at an offside position, which the ref didn't count.

Ya, Pastore played a really good game, and also did Gago !!

@ ARGENTINIAN 777

Dude chill, in the end I'll be supporting who ever wear that shirt, just like I didn in 1998 with Ortega.

@ messidona 19

You either need to grow up, or start watching more games.

Abs,

only the goal originally came from an offside play. Milito had 3 other great oppurtinities:
1. his shot took a slight deflection and hit the bar
2. at 1-1 he could not control the ball when he was alone in the box; and it was not offside
3. the final chance where his shot hit the bar but he should have done better placing it.

so i disagree, only the goal was offside.

as for Gago, he is a disaster. playing couple of simple passes to teammates is hardly a good job.

Gago getting a second start ion a row today against Aguero's Madrid, not sure if this is good news. I love to see Argentine's start and play well but I just don't want Diego to change his mind and reconsider Gago.

As for Pastore, I love this kid more and more everytime I see him play. I swear he improves his game week by week. I was a doubter of Pastore earlier solely because of his age. I figured he was too young and not experienced enough to go to South Africa but after watching him play for the past couple of months I have come to think that he can be a perfect play maker for the national team.

the more i see the more it has to be hig as out main striker ahead of milito autho i would start them both but it is not going to happen.
gago oh no diego may reconsider when someone like pastore looks really awesome and would be a much better player to take.

Pastore, bearing any injuries, will be at the WC imo. Diego seems to really like him (and that's understable seeing the quality player he is). Probably not as a starter but definitely on the group.

Abs: I just found it wrong that you're saying that Milito should be behind underachieving players like Lavezzi,Aguero and Tevez in the National team. And Please you can't tell me that I need to watch more games, because I've been watching Milito's play since he began in Zaragoza and I know exactly what type of player he is. He's very similar to Higuain, tall, powerful, not the best header of the ball, and tracks back to get involved in the game and has a touch of dribble that comes in handy in the penalty box, and has perfect positioning.
You also want Tevez to be ahead of Milito? What has he done recently with Argentina, other than run like a headless chicken around the pitch and commit stupid fouls which cost us games? Lavezzi? The same player who scores 6 goals per season? Milito's been challeging for goalscorer around the league for a while now.
I'm not gonna waste my time with you anymore because I know who the best strikers in Argentina currently are, Messi - Milito - Higuain

dude we are not all in the everyone but milito camp an ive said for a long time hig then milito (i would love them to be paired togeter but it wont happen)and then their is a gap with tevez (by defult 3rd as diego likes him, aguro out of form and injuries and lavezzi not good enough on current form.
i believe saviola should be ahead of tevez for a nt spot and in order messi, hig, milito, saviola, tavez...on current form these are our best 5

In case for those who still believe that we failed to mentioned things about Gonzalo HIGUAIN and seems to only notice only about MILITO. Well there is a new post on Mundo already about Pipita goal from the Madrid derby.

Now please try to understand something. If times permit us, we would like to talk about everything and anything that has to do with Argentina. In the end, we all have our full time jobs to do and at the same time we always strive to bring the best we can at Mundo Albiceleste.

Incase if we’ve failed or forgotten to mention any notable performance from an Albiceleste, the comment box is yours.

No worries John, You are doing an amazing job. We are thankful for this great site and wish it continues at its best for many years to come.

Pablo.D : I agree with you. It's a shame though that Milito and Higuain can't play together though. I hope this won't affect us like it did in 2002 Wc when Bielsa refused to play Crespo and Batistuta together.

I can't believe there are some people who still question Tevez quality .. The guy is scoring like crazy, and he is playing with an average team in a league that I consider the strongest in Europe.

It is true that Tevez had his bad moments with the national team, but he was going through hard times during that period.

I am not giving excuses, but if we play Messi-Higuain-Tevez we are going to be unstoppable.

messidona19 said...

Bro It doesn't matter which attack we play with, Messi-Higuain-Tevez, Messi-Milito-Higuain, Messi-Milito-Aguero, Messi-Milito-Tevez...
As long as we don't have a creative link with the attack, then our 3 attackers won't have any support and won't be able to do anything all game. 2 of the 3 strikers will probably have their only (half)chance of the game and if they don't take it, then no goals will be scored... That's why i like Milito, he takes advantages of the only chance he gets in a game. But unless Veron gets injured, and Banega takes his place, we won't have that creative link which feeds out strikers.
First I used to say that Samuel was the missing link in defence which will solve our problems. Thanks God he's in the Wc now.
Now the missing link for our Midfield is Banega, and if he doesn't feature in the team, then our attackers will lack the service it needs to destroy even the best defences in the world.

sorry but tavez may be great for manshity but at the nt level he has done little so far.
he reminds me of an english player called ian wright who scored lots of goals at club level but at nt could not do it.
tevez came on v germany a few weeks ago and did very little to make me think hes a starter ahead of hig, milito or saviola who has never let the nt down..

@ messidona 19

Playing with three up front is what we need at the moment coz we simply have no Riquleme anymore.
By playing Messi-Higuain-Tevez, one of them can always go back to create the attack game, while the other two keeps the opposite defense busy.

Maybe the comparison won't be fair, but Messi and Tevez have been playing that tactic for a while with both Barcelona and Man City.
I know you'll start an argument by saying that Barcelona have the like of Xavi and Inesta to give the freedom to Messi and co up front, but that can't be 100%, coz Barcelona played many games this season without the pair. And add to that, we are still going to have three midfield who can come up with something. While the Citizens have no midfield support at all compare to what we have at the NT.

About Samuel's return to the NT, yes I am happier to see a better player in there, but I would risk playing Milito over Samuel any day, coz with Samuel things can go very funny sometimes.

Regarding Banega, well, the guy is a talent for sure, and am ganna say that again, I like him since the WC back in Canada, but I don't think he is ready to lead the NT yet.

messidona19 said...

To tell you the truth, I believe that Milito and Samuel should be the pair in defence! I know everyone here is a Demichelis fan, but I'm not... I very much prefer Milito over Demichelis any day, and Micho could be our 3rd choice defender with Garay being 4th.
Well other than Banega I would love Aimar instead of Veron, because frankly since his comeback in Copa America 2007 Veron hasn't done anything impressive with the Albiceleste. In fact our strikers lacked so much service in our last 10 matches or so, that I blame Veron for that because he never brings the ball forward, only thing he does is pass back and when he does bring it forward, it's either innacurate or over hit.
But if I had a choice between Aimar and Banega, I'd still choose Banega because this player has character. In Canada 2007, He was brilliant, this season he is immense and he can become a legend if he plays in this Wc.
