U-20: Argentina held to a 1-1 draw by Venezuela

The debut match is never easy. The U20 National team of Argentina found out early on 2 minutes when José RONDON scored the opening goal for Venezuela after Unión de Santa Fé goalkeeper, Luis OJEDA, stopped his penalty shot.

BATISTA's team were trailing the home side right from the get go and the anxiety was evident after that.

Eduardo SALVIO (Lanús) showed what he is capable of doing a couple of times until he finally found the back of the net with a fierce low shot from the right and to the far post.

The second half was a monologue by the Albicelestes, but they couldn't find the all important second goal and had to settle for a draw.

Argentina will now have a day off on Wednesday while Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Perú will all be in action for Group A second match day.

Yes I missed the game but I have to a 1-1 tie vs Venezula is as good as a loss. They normally start slow in these tourneys. The important thing is to qualify.

I watched the match. Venezuela came out attacking from the first minute. Once Argentina scored, it slowed them(Venezuela) down. We were missing Piatti and Franco. This is what I saw last night.

Us trying to pass the ball into the net and us randomly crossing it into the box hoping for a goal(ala 2002).

Insua didn't look too good to be honest. He played better in the last 10 minutes of the game, but other than that looked flat.
