Tennis, Australian Open – Nalbandian Out! Delpo Through

Arguably the biggest shock in Day 3, 10th seeded David NALBANDIAN was knocked out by the unheralded LU Yen-Hsun. After going down in the first set 4-6, David rallied back to win the following two 7-5, 6-4.

However the Chinese Taipei player did it again to win the fourth set, 6-4. In the decider, David was very much in trouble as he was soon on double break down and Lu stepped up to serve it out at 5-2. He had no less than six chances to keep the match alive but it was Lu who clinched the game and the contest on his second match point.

Juan Martin DEL POTRO saved the day for the Albiceleste when cruised past his opponent Florian MEYER from Germany. The 8th seeded Delpo did not see much trouble as he won in straight set, 6-1, 7-5 & 6-1.
DEL POTRO started the game in blistering form, breaking his opponent three times. MAYER picked up the pace in the second, eventually breaking his serve to gain 5-4 lead. In the final set, DEL POTRO had to scramble to make a drop shot from MAYER, who then hit a lob which he managed to get to and then blast a passing winner.

His opponent in the third round will be the winner between local boy Bernard TOMIC or Gilles MULLER from Luxemburg.

In an earlier game, Brian DABUL went out in straight sets against Tomas BERDYCH, 1-6, 1-6 & 3-6. The other player still left in the second round is Guillermo CANAS, who takes on Fernando GONZALEZ.

Hey, John :P
Canas hasn't really been on form lately, so I wasn't surprised to see him go down in straight sets to Gonzalez.
Delpo is still playing great and I'm pretty sure he'll get past Muller in the 3rd round.

Hello,
Lu is a good player, but Nabaldian should win this kind of games.
