Diego visits England

In a surprising visit to the UK, Diego went to a Chelsea training session, attended a few matches (Arsenal-Newcastle on Tuesday, Man Utd.-Tottenham on Sunday) and signed a lot of autographs while taking the time to apologize for the "Hand of God's" goal in an interview with The Sun newspaper.

He spoke of a possible job in England in the future and while at Chelsea's training ground he took pictures with almost every player (Joe COLE being the most clearly excited about Diego's visit) and signed a shirt to Franco DI SANTO, the Argentine youngster that has just arrived to the Stamford Bridge club.

Check the full Diego interview with The Sun and see the slideshow:

Olympic squad news-GARAY has been replaced by JONATAN MAIDANA of Boca Juniors for the friendly on February 6. Apparently Garay has a stomach problem, so Maidana will accompany Riquelme from Boca.

On a personal note I will return to Buenos Aires in about three weeks to live indefinitely. Enough bouncing around !

Glad to hear. Looking forward to meeting you again down here.

Thanks for the info on MAIDANA and GARAY.

I’m really amazed with Diego after reading the article from The Sun. The man really knows how to proud and humble at the same time.

The thing that pisses me off is all the comments coming from these boneheads who haven’t moved on in their life after an incident that took place almost 22 years ago.

They keep going on and one about the first goal but very often forgetting what a beautiful second goal he scored.

Whether they like it or not, the fact remains as it is, Argentina were world champion then and England can’t even qualify for the Euros now.

I have great respect for the English people, as I do believe many of them would tell you that the greatest player they ever saw was Diego MARADONA.

And deep down I believe, that they’ve wish that rather than in Buenos Aires, he was born in somewhere like London, Manchester or Merseyside.

Those wankers ! I am sure the Brits have a ton of admiration for Diego. They probably just can't help themselves when it comes to dredging up Maradona's stealth ! Just the same, it would be nice for it to be put to bed. Won't ever happen though.

Seba-Thanks for the welcome back, and I am sure to see you after I return.

The thing is aboout these Brits is that while they can go on about Diego this and Diego that.

They seem to forgot about their own troubled heroes, Paul GASCOIGNE, Tony ADAMS, Paul MERSON & George BEST.....and the list goes on.

They will still only talk about the first goal even 100 years from now.

John, you are right, they act like they have no problems at all with their own players. Add Joey Barton to your list.

I like what he said about giving up drugs for his family. I hope the English (and everyone else as well) take his advice and don't do drugs!

Diego looked good. He seem to lost more weight cause the last pics of him around the end of December at Boca ground. He looked a bit heavier then. It's wonderful to see him looking happy inside out.

Great man this Maradona. Love you Diego.
