2007 FIBA Americas – No Problem Against Canadians

It wasn’t that long ago that the Canadians defeated us in a pre-Las Vegas mini tournament in Puerto Rico and playing against them yesterday sure was scary as hell. After all the Mexicans did gave the USA some fight worth remembering and Brazil fell to Puerto Rico and results like that suggests that surprises are possible at the FIBA Americas.
But yesterday game was a different story altogether. By half time Argentina dominated from power to strength to command a 46-16 lead. But the maple leaf outfit did show some character in the next two quarter but in the end the damage was already done as Argentina won by 85-70 and kept their winning streak to 5-0.

Tonight Luis SCOLA was once again giving some hint to his future employees at Houston on what they can expect from him as he was best man in the court for us with a 23 points, 6 rebounds & 1 block shot performance.
Carlos DELFINO inflicted further damage on the Cannucks with 15 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists & 1 steal. Pablo PRIGIONI is also having the time of his life and proving that he every penny worth as Pepe SANCHEZ with a game high 11 assists.

With this result we can safely say that the Tall Albiceleste have at least secured the minimum requirement, which is a place in the semi-finals or at least qualification for the wild card tournament next year. But the toughest part as yet to come and whatever that is I’m not too clear what to expect at the moment. Will keep you posted soon.
