Champions League News

FC Barcelona vs. Olympique Lyonnais
I have to agree with Johnny (his comments from the previous article) as MESSI was unstoppable that without a doubt he was the man of the match. With him and Gabriel MILITO in the starting line up, Barca cruised through 3-0 win over the French champions.

Sporting Clube de Portugal vs. Manchester United

No Carlos TEVEZ in the starting line up as his place was taken away with the arrival Wayne ROONEY from injury. He was brought in a substitution later in the game. On the opposite side, Leandro ROMAGNOLI was a starter. A 1-0 win for the Red Devils and I wonder is this bad news for TEVEZ?

Fenerbahçe S.K vs. Inter Milan

Despite having the likes of Javier ZANETTI, Esteban CAMBIASSO, Santiago SOLARI and Walter SAMUEL on the starting line up it wasn’t happy night for the Serie A champions as they suffered a shock 1-0 loss against the Turkish side. Hernan CRESPO was on the bench.

Arsenal vs. Sevilla FC

Federico FAZIO played as a center back but the Gunners sensationally won 3-0

Amen about Messi. Just how good would he be if he became more comfortable with the right foot ?! I hope he works on that. As good as he is now, he would be even more dangerous. Regarding Carlitos, it certainly can't be good news. He is being paid to SCORE. That said, given chances in the future I am sure he will. BUT, at ManU, if you don't produce, you can get lost in the numbers game rapidly. Too many talented players. Too bad we don't have any limelight players at Arsenal. They beat up a good Sevilla squad today, and might be better without Henry. And, of course, Boca beat San Pablo tonight 2-1 behind two more goals from El Caballo Loco. Damn that San Pablo goal in injury time. Makes the task more difficult in Brazil next match.

Messi was great tonight, makes you feel good when he is the best on the pitch with so many great players on it. The Mexican kid Dos Santos was very good as well, granted he played no more then 15min. That 2010 Mexican team is going to be a major threat to any team they face, I hope we do not play them but I know it is premature to speak about the WC now.

MESSI is alreasy an alomist finished product. But there are some aspect of him that he needs to improve. No arguement on that.

That said about CARLITOS, I'm pretty worried about this situation just as much as anyone else. But you have to remember, he was supposed to partner with ROONEY that got interupted when he got injured. Let's give Sir ALEX some time but we all know that patient is not something he is very fond of.

That said, the good news is that today we can all say Goodbye JOSE from the EPL. I wonder what's in store for him from now onwards.

UEFA Cup News.

This has to be story of the night.

Fernando CAVENAGHI had a sensation night for Bordeaux as he scored two goals in the 3-2 UEFA Cup tie win over Tampere United from Finland.

Martin DEMECHELIS was a starter for Bayern in their 1-0 win over Portuguese side Belenenses.

A clean sheet performance for PATO and Cata DIAZ as Getafe won 1-0 against Dutch side Twente Enschede

Not so good for ZARAGOZA’s Roberto AYALA and Andres D’ALLESANDRO as their suffered 1-0 loss to Aris Salonika away. Diego MILITO came in as second half substitute for D’ALLESANDRO.

Anderletch with Lucas BIGLIA and Nicolas PAREJA in their starting line up drew 1-1 with Rapid Vienna

Leo FRANCO, Maxi RODRIGUEZ and Kun AGUERRO were all on the bench as Atlético Madrid trounced Turkish side Erciyesspor 4-0. Only Kun made a second half appearance.

Anyone else that I’ve missed…

Masche a one man wrecking crew today, disrupting B'Ham's offense in midfield constantly. Between he and Gago Argentina has two young, very active, wonderful defensive midfielders for many years to come. Knock on wood.

One has to wonder if Messi is about to be elevated to supreme Barcelona status. Dinho is beginning to look like another Brazilian diva about to take a dive. Substituted two games in a row, and out of today's game with a "calf injury" picked up in practice. Is the writing on the wall, or will Dinho return to be the Barcelona darling ?

Carlitos breaks his maiden with a flying header in first half injury time. ManU 1 Chelsea 0. Not quite as sweet without watching the "chosen one" squirming on the sideline, but still nice. Perfect timing for Carlitos with the gol, and let's hope we see him teamed up with Rooney and Ronaldo from now on.

CORRECTION ! ManU 2 Chelsea 0. A Saha penalty kick near the end of the match.
