COCO gives a hint of the probable lineup

A couple of days before Argentina face Switzerland in a friendly match to be played at St. Jakob Park in Basel, Alfio BASILE gave us a hint of what the starting lineup could look like on Saturday.

In a training game, he named the following eleven men to take the field against the remaining 9 that compose the 20-man squad.

Despite SAVIOLA scoring a hat-trick previously in training sessions this week, COCO might opt to use TEVEZ from the start and see what he can do alongside CRESPO in attack with MESSI pulling the strings from behind.

Will you be happy if this is the team that will play from the start on Saturday?

Do you think this team is good enough to play at the Copa America?

What changes or additions will you make to this starting-eleven?

I think that for the Copa America Basile will probably go with Saviola-Crespo upfront with Messi behind them. However, I'm just glad that Argentina is FINALLY bringing to the Copa something that can be referred to as a 'first rate" team.

If it's not Saviola or Crespo playing it will be Tevez. If it's not Messi playing it will be Aimar or Veron. If Gago or Cambiasso don't play it'll be Mascherano.

It's time for the Copa to come back home.

Looks good to me ! I like the combo of Tevez and Crespo. A young warrior full of energy and a wise old assassin ! If Messi can make the switch to playmaker, he would be extremely dangerous. And, I am sure Coco hopes he can. If not, then we won't be hurt by Aimar, Veron or whomever. The bottom looks ok as well.

Off to see Boca !

Seba and Gang,

The defense looks solid. But i would prefer to play a 4-2-3-1 as listed below:-

G.Milito - DC

D. Milito - FC

I would like to see TEVEZ playing in the hole and he can swap places from time to time with MESSI. SAVIOLA can join from the right and he can support Diego MILITO up front. Why is choose Diego MILITO to start is because i believe his time has to come to lead the front line, no offence to Senor Hernan CRESPO, but Diego MILITO needs games for international experience and what better way to do so. We have to remember that he is already 28 years old.

Cheers and a Happy Weekend ahead,

The whole squad looks to be very promising.

Playing ZANETTI on the right gives me more confidence than using BURDISSO. AYALA and Gaby MILITO will make a solid pair in central defense. On the left HEINZE is obviously the best choice.

I would with agree with Alwin, that GAGO and MASCHERANO will make much better partnership in central midfield. One can play in the ball winning role and the other could help to push the attack.

Upfront is where the REAL headache is about to happen. Any reasonable football fan would know that neither CRESPO, Diego MILITO, MESSI, TEVEZ nor SAVIOLA are bench material. So it will be interesting how COCO utilize this area.

By the way is MAXI making the trip now that he has recovered? I’m sure he will be itching for a chance to go to the COPA AMERICA with a group like this.

On sadder note, Carlos DELFINO chance of joining Manu GINOBILI and Fabricio OBERTO in the NBA Championship Finals has taken setback as the Detroit PISTONS are 3-2 behind the Cleveland CAVALIERS after losing game 5 by 109-107. CARLITOS only played for 8 minutes did nothing much except for 2 assists and 1 steal. Can’t blame him for this as it has always been the problem for coach Flip SAUNDERS as rarely utilizes his bench line up.

For CARLITOS sake, lets hope the PISTONS bounced back in their remaining two games.

I still want Saviola and Crespo upfront. We never lost with these two upfront and indeed we beat Brazil with them.

I think Cambiasso should play in midfield with Mascherano.
