DIEGO in hospital

It´s not the first time that he´s been there, but everytime something like this happens, it still take us by surprise and the situation brings a whole country and a lot of people from around the world into a state of total alert.

Diego MARADONA, the greatest footballer of all time in my opinion, was rushed into the Güemes Hospital in Buenos Aires after he suffered a non-drugs related problem. Reportedly, it has to do with DIEGO´s unhealthy diet and the consumption of alcohol and tobacco.

DIEGO´s personal doctor, Mr. CAHE, said "his life is not in danger" and that´s a good thing to hear in times like this.

I wish him a speedy recovery and here´s hoping that he changes those habits that are endangering him.

VAMOS DIEGO!

Hopefully it isn't too serious and he recovers well. He's had gastric bypass surgery right? From what I understand there is a diet that you have to follow after the surgery and hopefully after this incident he starts to take better care of himself diet wise etc. Vamos Diego!

In other news (I was going to post this on the other topic but decided to do it here instead since this is the new thread), apart from the Chile friendly Argentina is also going to be playing Mexico (May 20th in Houston, Texas), Switzeland (June 2 in Switzerland) and Australia (June 6 in Melbourne Australia) according to FIFA.com. I'm really excited about the game in the USA because that is one that I can potentially go to on my student income :) Hopefully they bring a squad similar to the Copa America one so I can see the new guys. Vamos Argentina

You´ve raised an issue that makes me think now...weren´t Argentina supposed to visit England to play against them at Wembley Stadium in May 25th or around that date?

How come will we play against Mexico on May 20th?

What I´ve heard is that the match against Australia should be played in Europe or somewhere not very far from Argentina or Europe because the Copa America kicks off very close to that date.

So I think there are a lot of things still up in the air.

That said...if it happens that Argentina plays in the USA and you can attend that match, you´ll be very very welcome to post your match review here or the photos you might take at the stadium.

When I heard the news it was a total surprise to me. I remember a couple of days ago when DIEGO announced that he is going for a treatment in Switzerland. I really do hope that it is nothing serious and that DIEGO will fight this battle and come out of it. Let us join together and pray for his quick recovery.

As for Seba, your opinion on DIEGO being the greatest player of all time, agreed 120% indeed. No doubt about that.

VAMOS DIEGO!!!

As for Argentina upcoming friendly matches, I did remember reading somewhere in the newspaper a few months back that the first international match to be played in the newly build Wembley Stadium was supposed to be us against England. Well I guess that match is already cancelled (or maybe postponed?) as Germany will be the first team to play against England there, somewhere in August.

As for the match against Australia, that will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground on the June the 6th. It seems that the Socceroos will be using that match as part of their warm up for the 2007 Asian Cup.

Just for everyone’s info, the Asian Cup will jointly host by Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and MALAYSIA.

MIXED OF FORTUNE WEEKEND FOR THE ALBICELESTES

Around European Football...

Once again Carlos "Carlitos" TEVEZ continues to inspire West Ham to a 2-0 win over Middlesborough. He played an important role in the first goal scored by Bobby ZAMORA and scored (for the third consecutive game) the second goal as well. Vamos Carlitos.

Javier MASCHERANO produces a respectable performance in Liverpool 4-1 demolishing of Arsenal. He played for a full 90 minutes and this goes to show his confidence is improving for every game he is playing.

Gabriel HEINZE has also won back his place of the left back position as Man Utd came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 4-1.

In La Liga, Lionel "Pulga" Messi continues to score for Barca as they beat Deportivo La Coruna 2-1.

D’ALESSANDRO scored for Zaragoza in their 2-2 draw with Getafe

In Serie A, Inter’s journey towards the tile is getting closer as they beat Parma 2-0 with Hernan CRESPO scoring the first goal.

Tennis, Sony Ericsson Open,

Guillermo CANAS tamed big-hitting Croat Ivan LJUBICC 7-6 6-2 to reach the final, underlining his return to top form following a 15-months doping ban.

But in the final it was different story altogether as Serbian teenager Novak DJOKOVIC defeated him 6-3, 6-2 & 6-4.

NBA...

It was phenomenon weekend for Walter HERRMANN. First he scored career high 23 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists as the Charlotte BOBCATS beat the Milwaukee BUCKS 97-81. And then today against the Toronto RAPTORS he had a game high 22 points. However the RAPTORS won 94-107. Keep it up Walter!!!

Carlos DELFINO too had a great game for the Detroit PISTONS against the defending champions Miami HEAT as he scored 12 points help the PISTONS to a 94-88 victory.

What about Manu GINOBILI and Fabricio OBERTO of San Antonio Spurs? Against the Utah JAZZ on Friday night, MANU scored a game high 25 points while OBERTO had 3 points.

While in the just concluded game against the Indiana PACERS, GINOBILI and OBERTO had 13 and 2 points respectively as the PACERS won the game by 99-100 in a dramatic finish.
