Porto Remain On Top, Thanks to Lucho & Ernesto

Surprisingly the last weekend has been pretty much boring with not many goals to highlight from the Albiceleste Army.

Diego MILITO will take the honour as the only goal scorer from Argentina in any one of Europe’s top five leagues. He scored from the penalty spot in the exciting match between Genoa and Fiorentina.

There must be sense of frustration for his side right not after throwing away a 3-0 lead. Romanian striker Adrian MUTU scored a hat trick (including a last minute equalizer) from which the match ended in 3-3 draw.

In Portugal, an Albiceleste inspired performance helped FC Porto to maintain their lead at the top of the league by one point over Benfica. Ernesto FARIAS score twice while his compatriot Lucho Gonzalez added the other in the champions' 3-1 victory over bottom side Rio.

Benfica kept their pace behind Porto with a 3-2 win over Pacos de Ferreira with Angel DI MARIA among the scorer. You might want to check the goal out because this is my choice for the Goal of the Week award.

On Saturday, Luciano GALLETTI scored for Olympiakos in their 2-1 win over Aris Salonika.

John, that Di Maria goal was awesome.

In case you're interested, Albiceleste boxer Sergio Martinez fought Puerto Rican Kermit Cintron to a draw and retained his WBC interim super welterweight title.

I'd love to see him fight Mexican Alfredo Angulo, who won his fight via knockout on the same card. He's the WBC and WBO champion in the same weight class as Martinez.

Higuain really impressive today. He create 3 goals for real madrid, especially a superb back heel for marcelo. I think higauin is the man of the match for that game.

Sir Raul

Hi Rabid, quite a while since we’ve heard from you.

I don’t have that much of knowledge about the boxing circuit but I remember Seba mentioned to me many years back that Argentina is also well known for producing many fine boxers.

But as always thanks for sharing with us.

Sir Raul, I’ll agree with you that HIGUAIN had an amazing game and I won’t take away anything from him. I feel so far he is Real best player this season.
