Probable (very likely) lineup against Chile

It looks like MILITO will play and we will also see three central midfielders in action from the start.

The promising Juan Pablo CARRIZO will be on goal.

Javier ZANETTI at right back, Nicolás BURDISSO and Martín DEMICHELIS in the centre of defense while Gabriel HEINZE will play on the left.

Javier MASCHERANO, Cristian LEDESMA and Esteban CAMBIASSO will form a midfield with a very defensive tendency while Lionel MESSI will play a little bit behind the striking partnership of Sergio AGUERO and Diego MILITO.

MESSI could be handed the playmaking duties while it remains to be seen how those ball-robbing monsters from midfield will cooperate with each other.

Another option?

To have ZANETTI playing as a right midfielder, with COLOCCINI playing at the back (moving BURDISSO to the right back position) and to introduce Angel DI MARIA as a wide left midfielder (keeping LEDESMA on the bench and forming a partnership between MASCHERANO and CAMBIASSO in the centre of midfield. There'll be no place for Diego MILITO if BASILE prefers this option as MESSI and KUN will play up front.

Apparently, Don Corleone...oops...I mean...Julio Grondona (AFA president) have told BASILE to never play with 3 at the back again. Knowing this, I will be (pleasantly) surprised if we play with three at the back.

So...a 4-4-2 formation will leave MILITO (or any big striker) out of the starting lineup as long as MESSI, AGUERO and TEVEZ are around.

I'm voting for Option 1 (even though my favourite would be Option 3, with 3 at the back, two wide midfielders, one playmaker and two up front -whatever the players' names are-).

With RIQUELME and TEVEZ not available: What would be your favourite formation or lineup for this particular match against Chile away?

I hope D Milito gets a shot, though it's a shame that Roman wouldn't be there to loft some nice floaters for Diego to head home. I tell you who I would like to see instead of Cambiasso, Jonas Gutierrez. Maybe he's hurt and that's why Coco left him off the squad. For me, he is the kind of player Argentina needs more of. Good skills on both offense and defense, and definitely more of a threat. He makes things happen.

Okay, my preference would be….

No doubt in goal, CARIZZO fit’s the bill anytime.

In defense, preferably I would like to have a back four of ZABALETA (right), MONZON (left), BURDISSO and DEMICHELIS (central). Don’t get me wrong here on why I left out ZANETTI and HEINZE. The fact is they are not getting younger so lets opt for youth in our wingbacks.

However it is unlikely that Coco will replace them so looks like they will start today. Still a strong defense unit anytime.

In midfield, two holding players in the form of MASCHERANO and CAMBIASSO. Lets put DI MARIA on the left and MESSI on the right. Of course Lionel will act as the playmaker and the link between our two strikers.

After all, didn’t this midfield (minus Esteban) played awesomely in Beijing.

Up front, at this moment I want Kun to partner DieGOL MILITO. We need a tall, strong and powerful hitman upfront.
