PIPITA Does It Again For Real

To the new Argentina’s national team coach; pick me up NOW! I guess that was the message from Gonzalo HIGUAIN, who scored a brace to help Real Madrid overcome a spirited Athletic Bilbao 3-2.

Real were cruising, first through Wesley SNEIJDER’s blistering shot after being put clear by Gabriel HEINZE in the 13th minute. Real kept up the pressure on Athletic and were rewarded when Pipita doubled their lead in the 29th minute.

In what that had the potential to turned out into a one sided affair, Bilbao stunned the Santiago Bernabau with two goals (from Joseba ETXEBERRIA and Andoni IRAOLA) to level the score just before half time.

In the second half, Madrid hit the bar twice through HIGUAIN’s 25 yard pile driver and HEINZE’s close range volley. Then in the 58th minute, Fernando GAGO threaded a nice pass for HIGUAIN, who coolly slotted in Madrid’s third.

It was another thrilling encounter in La Liga, after the earlier match between Villareal and Atletico Madrid.

It sure was nice nice to see a great pass from one Argentino to another, resulting in a big goal for the heavyweights Real Madrid. Higuain looks like he is growing up. Still sad to see poor Saviola getting just a few garbage minutes at the end.
