Estudiantes CAMPEON!

I hate this! I hate when I write a full report and then this Blogger thing just erase everything I had written and I can never get it back! Just when I was hitting CTRL+C to copy all the text just in case I lose it!

I HATE IT!

There is no way I'll get it back and no way I can write it again being 2:10 AM here in Doha.

I'm trying to keep the calm and don't write bad words but I really need to!!!!!!!!

Anyway...I will just say now that Estudiantes won 2-1 after trailing from the 3rd minute and they deserve to be champions.

OH HOW I HATE TO LOSE A TEXT LIKE THAT! I CAN'T DESCRIBE IT!

I'm sorry...too late now.

Anybody saw the game?

Hi Seba & everyone,

I know how you feel Seba. It happened to me a couple of times. You just want to break something!

Anyhow, they had the playoff through stream last night but it came on at 3 in the morning here in Thailand. So I set the alarm clock and it didn't go off and I missed a cracking game. I watched the clips in OLE web this morning and it was exciting with the sounds of the fans and the emotion on and off the pitch. Congrats to Estudientes. Seem they came back strong in the 2nd half. Deserving champions. They have been solid in the past 3 months. All wins just one draw. Great come back for Veron in his homeland. And El Cholo. And I sure don't want to be La Volpe right now. I prefer more Basile's Boca.

Although I would prefer to watch it live, I'll try to get torrent of the game. Someone will release it for sure. It's should be a classic and one for keeps.

Cheers,
andaman

Hi Seba and all,

It's a real screwed up feeling, i can feel your frustration. Like andaman and the many of us, i have also experienced this. What i always do whenever i want to post something long or reply a long email is that i always open up a notepad and type it out there, so even when the internet screws up, you still have your backup.

As for Estudientes, my heartfelt congratulations, and also to one of my favourite Argentina players, Senor Juan Sebastian Veron, im sure you have silenced many of your critics and i would like see him wearing the Albiceleste jersey for one more time maybe in the next Copa America.

Vamos Argentina,
Alwin

I know it's an old cliche, but form is temporary, class is permanent. Veron must deserve another crack with the national team. Basile can possibly combine Veron and Messi to be the playmakers and Masche/Gago to be the midfield anchor. I prefer Gago, simply because I haven't seen him play..lol...

VAMOS Argentina

You guys think Martin Palermo still has any chance of playing for our country after this defeat. Damn, it sure feels bad to be robbed off a pretigious title like that.

I'm so sad...We were winning too!! When did Boca become England WC 2006? You don't stop playing when you are winning by only 1 point!!! Very exciting game though. Just so sad.
Veron did play well, I'll give you that but I'm still not convinced to the NT. Also (a little off topic at the moment) Messi is not ready to be playmaker, I think people expect too much of him at the moment. He needs too much support to control the game by himself, he'll do it eventually but he is too young. Remember that Maradona didn't truly become the soccer phenomenum we all know and love till he was 25-26.
Back to Apertura, Good job Estudiantes (I say this with a heavy heart) and congrats to any fans for your win. You deserved it.

Hi There,

Keep it cool Seba as you know sometimes they say SHIT HAPPENS!!! I'm frustrated of not having any internet connection at my workplace for the past two days.

Anyway, I did saw the highlights of the game on ESPN. Frankly speaking I'm not surprise as Estudiantes was the team with better form than Boca. Congrats to them on this wonderful achievement. As for Juan Sebastian Veron, I think it was one of those redemption stories that you hear often. He certainly prove the critics wrong. Having said this, I must agree with Argentinafan about him being included in the National Team. I'm a bit skeptical about that. But if it is true that Coco Basile is planning to take a squad based on local league players to next years Copa America, then the addition of La Brujita could be crucial as he brings bun dens of experience to the team.

However I'm really keen to see more of EL CHOLO managerial career as since he still young for his current profession. What are the chance of him leading the Albicelestes in the future?

Having said her name before, I'll mentioned again. Nicol David from Malaysia, who is the World No. in squash has won the gold medal in the on going Doha Asian Games. Vamos Nicol!!!

NBA News...

Manu Ginobili scored 24 points (highest scorer) in San Antonio Spurs 103-77 win over the New Orleans Hornet.

Chapu Nocioni scored 20 points as the Chicago Bulls beat Seattle Supersonics 84-99

And finally

VAMOS ESTUDIANTES!!!

VAMOS ARGENTINA!!!

I am a Simeone fan and I am happy to see Estudiantes win. They absolutely deserved to be champions. They came back from behind, like they did in the whole tourment. They really play with brave hearts.

I would like to see Simeone become your next manager. He resembled so many things Arg miss today: a strong defense, team football, and a 'Never say never' strong will to win.

Anonymous said...

That has happened to me too-- it's very frustrating and it always seems to happen when I don't copy it just in case!

That said, good for Estudiantes. They fully deserved the win!

So a source at West Ham has said that Mascherano is 90% certain to leave in the January transfer window. FIFA regulations state that a player cannot play for two new clubs in the same season but they have made exceptions if its in the best interests of the player. AFA is going to put pressure on FIFA to let him leave since he is a crucial member of the NT. Looks like Tevez is going to stay even though he didn't play today. Pity too because Zamora is pretty much useless, missing a one on one with the keeper and Sheringham is getting really old. They did win today though so congrats to them on that.

I watched the game(West Ham vs ManUtd)with mixed emotions as I'm a ManU fan and we lost. I'm also angry that Tevez didn't start the game. And Masche was nowhere to be seen. These are world class players, who played in the recent world cup, yet aren't being given a chance. The sooner they leave the better it'll be for them.

Hi All,

Utterly dissapointed not to see Tevez and Mascherano play. I thought with a new manager, they would stand a better chance to play, looks like it's not and it's just worrying signs. Yes, argentinfan- Zamora is utter rubbish.

But i was happy to se Gaby Henize have a solid game at leftback. I think he would make a good leftback for the National team as he can go forward and at the same time defend solidly.

May you all have a great week ahead, the holiday season is coming soon.

Cheers,
Alwin

Hi There,

I was too felt very disgusted to Tevez on the bench and Mascherano was completely out of the picture. Furthermore with Alan Curbie kicking off his West Ham managerial career to flying start without these two players is only going to make things worse.

I don’t think it takes a genius to figure out these players potential. So where does Carlitos and Javier go from here?

Well it’s high time that they get the hell out of there.

Hi There,

It’s been a while since I've posted some comments here. Anyway I would like to share great news with all of you regarding on Chicago Bulls Andres Nocioni on which I’ve found out from the FIBA website.

Nice gong for Nocioni

BUENOS AIRES (NBA) - Andres Nocioni has captured the coveted "Silver Olimpia" award in Argentina, an honour given to leading sportsmen. The Argentinian who shone at this year's FIBA World Championship in Japan, was recognised at a prestigious ceremony that was organised by journalists in his homeland.

Nocioni averaged more than 13 points and five rebounds per game in the Far East, though he is best remembered for missing a potential game winning three-pointer against Spain in their semi-final.

Argentina eventually lost to the United States in the bronze medal game.

The 27-year-old had an excellent 2005-06 with the NBA's Chicago Bulls, averaging 13 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 27.3 minutes per contest in the 2005-06 campaign - his second in the league.

This year, Nocioni is averaging 16.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 29 minutes.

The Golden Olimpia was given to German Chiaraviglio, winner of the Athletics' Youth World Championship in pole vaulting.

Hi to all ARGENTINA Fans,

I delighted to see a website dedicated to Argentina website. Vamos Seba.

As a Batistuta fan, i hope to get more information about him.

Its been long since i heard of that "Lion King".

For me he is the best striker in the world. I wish him all the best n my dream is to meet this legend.

Many Thanks & Regards,
Bala

Hi All,

Mr. Bala, welcome to the Club. You can stay here as long as you want and post anything you feel that is related to each an everyone of us here..which is the "Argentina National Team".

Yes, Batistuta is one striker that we are missing now, a person of his calibre and strenght, together with the most delicate touches to thunderbolts strikes, we had a complete striker in him and i hope that we get a new "Batistuta" like striker soon. Diego Milito sure seems capable.

Cheers,
Alwin

For many who thought Batistuta was easy replacement was left dissapointed because he is dearly missed.

I believe there is a player with Batistuta capability or even more but i seem to very suprised with the current selection.

I dont understand why our players are going to other smaller clubs.

Are the argentina players not good enough or is this players seem to strugle in other leagus.

As for our record only messi (Barcelona), Heinze (Man Utd) & Crespo (Inter is Italy not in Brazil) is playing for the big club.

What is going on ?

Many Thanks & Regards,
Bala

Hi There,

First and foremost, I’m pleased to welcome Mr.Bala as the new member to this legion of Albicelestes supporters’ blog.

Batistuta is Batistuta and there will never be another Batistuta. The same goes for Diego Milito and let him be Diego Milito. It is great acknowledgement for a player to be compared with someone who is legendary but I feel that comparison will only add burden to that particular player. But one cannot deny that it might also be a motivation factor, depending on individual preference.

However its true that we need someone who is lethal up front and Diego is the best option. I’m not going to rule out Lisandro Lopez because he is doing a fantastic job at Porto. Other players that I believe deserve to be mentioned are Ernesto Farias of River Plate, Mauro Matias Zarate (Apertura joint top-scorer) of Velez Sarsfield and Marione Pavone of newly crowned Apertura champions, Estudiantes.

Regarding on your question on why Argentine players going to smaller clubs, well I have some good news (or bad to others) for you. According to the newspaper today, Real Madrid have just sign Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuain. Good for them.

To me the issue here is not about whether about joining a big or small club but it is about joining the right club. For example Juan Riquelme move to Barcelona, which was great news when I first heard it. But then suddenly due to his style of play, he found himself out of favour with Louis Van Gaal and then Frank Rijkaard. Later on he was loaned out to Villareal (for whom he sign later), a small but ambitious club, and he was simply sensational. To me this was great move as it allows Riquelme to be the player he wants to be and do the things he does best.

The same goes for Tevez and Mascherano, which is really a concern for me. I’m not too sure whether Alan Curbie is keen to feature these two in his plan, as he is just another typical English coach who prefers the typical English style of play.

Hi all,

Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

Welcome Bala

Alwin, I agree totally what you say about joining the right club. Riquelme put Villarreal on the map. Aimar performed really well alongside his countrymen and teammates in Zaragoza. I hope Tevez and Mascherano make a move soon.

As for Gago and Higuain, I hope high expectations won't be too much on the two boys. This team expect all new high-profile signings to be the saviour or something. But the future seem bright for them at the moment. Let see how it goes come January. All the luck to them.

Cheers

*** Just one question out of curiosity about the playoff at end of season. If the tournament end up with 3 way tie. How would they play off? Each teams face each other till the find the champions?

Hi There,

Spot on Andaman! However I would still like to add another point from my previous comment is that even the type of league where Argentine player ply their trade may also be another factor. Look at Crespo for instance. His two stint at Chelsea, even by his own standard is relatively poor compare the kind of devastating form he produces in Serie A. The same goes Juan Sebastian Veron, he wasn't the same player that we use to know when moved to England. That is why I was a bit skeptical about Tevez and Mascherano moved to West Ham.

I feel happy for Gago and Higuain move to Real Madrid. The both of them are exceptionally talented and gifted and for this Real should great full that they are on their books. But we all know how hard is to please the Santiago Bernabau crowd. Just ask Ronaldo and he will tell you, despite all that he has done.

Higuain chances may not come too early as he will be up against the likes Raul, Robinho, Van Nistelrooy and Reyes to earn place upfront. But there could be a bit more pressure on Gago as already everyone is comparing him Redondo.

I wish both of them the best of luck in 2007.

NBA News...

Carlos Delfino of Detroit Pistons scored 8 points from the bench in their 108-81 win over the Atlanta Hawks

NBA title contender San Antonio Spurs beat the New Orleans Hornets 112-77. Part of that contribution comes from Manu Ginobili (17 points) and Fabricio Oberto (4 points).

Meanwhile two Argentine players were in action in the Charlotte Bobcats vs. Chicago Bulls game. Despite often starting from the bench, Walter Herrmann still manages to get his name in the point sheet by scoring 7 points for the Bobcats. But it was a different stories for Andres Nocioni, as he produce another sensational performance for the Bulls by scoring 21 points. The final score Bobcats 76 Bulls 115.

Finally it is currently right now 5.41 pm here in Malaysia with less then 7 hours before midnight. I would like to take this opportunity to wish all Albicelestes supporters Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays. Enjoy a wonderful moment during this festive season

Simply put : Argentine players being technically gifted is just not suitable for any team or league that plays Kick and Run, or Kick high balls into goalmouth and hope for a good heading goal.

So, promising Argentine players should avoid EPL teams (except Arsenal) at all cost !

Welcome Mr.Anonymous,

Great to have you in our blog. I do agree with you regarding Argentine players joining Arsenal which I believe suits them the most.

The one touch football and passing game that has been orchestrated by Arsene Wenger is a joy to watch.
