Albiceleste At The US Open – Day 1

Whenever there is a Grand Slam only two things come to mind, Roger FEDERER and Rafael NADAL. And it could be the most likely scenario at the 2007 US Open but the fact is there is plenty of class and talent among those flying the Argentina flag to dispatch either of them.

In the Men’s Single event, only Guillermo CANAS (14th seed) came out with a win after defeating Ruben Ramirez HIDALGO from Spain 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 & 6-3. While two other Argentines Juan Pablo GUZMAN and Sergio ROITMAN were both eliminated by Jonas BJORKMAN and Richard GASQUET respectively.
In the Women’s Single, it all came to end for Gisela DULKO after she crashing in straight set to Alona BONDARENKO from Ukraine 4-6 & 3-6. This must be a bitter disappointment for her after freshly wining The Forest Hills Women’s Tennis Classic recently.

Here are the results involving from Day 1
