Leo & Pipita Fight It Out On Last Day

The battle to be crown as the Champions of Spain will go down to the last day of the season after both Barcelona and Real Madrid won their respective fixtures on Saturday with Barca maintaining their one point lead in the standings.

Real Madrid had to win in or order to keep pace with Barca and they did just that, defeating 10 men Athletic Bilbao 5-1. With the score line tied at 1-1, Gonzalo HIGUAIN put Madrid back in the lead in the 73rd minute with a header after Bilbao’s keeper Gorka IRAIZOX could only palm away an earlier header courtesy of Xabi ALONSO’s corner; thus Pipita was well placed beyond the far post to head the ball in. Real’s further goals coming in the last 10 minutes.

Lionel MESSI and Co knew they couldn’t afford to slip as they survived to win 3-2 away to Sevilla. It took only five minutes for the visitors to score as MESSI chested down MAXWELL’s pass on the edge of the area before firing a perfectly angle shot past Andres PALOP. With this goal, he will have one more opportunity next week to break RONALDO’s record of 47 goals a season.

Another scorer from La Liga was Pablo PIATTI in Almeria’s 2-2 draw away to Tenerife. Whilst in the Belgian Jupiter League playoffs, Matias SUAREZ was on target for Anderlecht in their 2-1 win over St Truiden.

  1. LM: I think you freaked out, and most of all I believe you understood why you should play "anti-football" game sometimes.

No, never. Even at 3-2, we tried to go for the 4th goal rather than just defending with 11 men. Yes it wasn't easy since sevilla suddenly started believing in themselves and there were a couple of desperate clearances but that's expected. If you think u can compare inter's anti-football with Barca's last 10 minutes against sevilla, that's just so WRONG. Always a big fat NO to anti-football from me. Next weekend, REAL FOOTBALL will be crowned. And I will also be DESPERATELY hoping as a football fan that Bayern wins the CL.
Vamos Argentina y visca el Barca!!!

although i love attacking football, and wish argentina stay faithful to their style. however, as a manager you have to be smart and play with the way that lets you win.

    think about it:

vs. Chelsea, Inter attacked in England! why? because that was the way Murinho saw it and it worked. Against Barca, Murinho knew that his only chance is by closing down and defending the 2 goal margin. and he was right. no team can open up and survive Messi and Xavi. so Inter did what they had to do.

I hate it, but at the end you become a successful person not by claiming that you are genious even though you know you are not. but by effectively utalizing what resources you have in the correct way, and to me that was what Murinho did and what Guardiola failed to do.

  7. Yeah, i'm watching it... What a chip from Milito! Made me drop my toast! He deserves to be at least on the bench in the world cup.

  8. They should put that little chat back on the side of the page... Helps everyone vent out their feelings during the games they are watching...

  9. Inter looking really relaxed and confident today. Milito a little lucky as his chip glanced off a defender and then just out of reach of the keeper. But, nice work anyhow !

  16. Yes Jamie. Saw it. He missed unbelievably easy ones. From his face, you could see he was irritated and tired. Good thing that they don't have any more games after next weekend (maybe he play in the friendly). He needs to be as strong as a bull; we surely will need him. ;)

P.S. There is a new potato chips out in the UK and guess what they have a special packet for Argentina. Argentinian Flame Grilled Steak.
