From what we can say about all three La Liga fixture’s on Saturday was that there was an Albilceleste goal scorer in every matchers.
First up was Valencia playing at home against struggling Real Valladolid. The home side won the game 2-0 with Ever BANEGA scoring the first goal with a fierce drive which gave Valladolid goalkeeper Justo VILLAR no chance as it flew into the top corner.
Next up was Barcelona playing at home against Getafe which they won 2-1 despite finishing the game with nine men. With captain Carles PUYOL missing through suspension, Gabriel MILITO made his first start since returning from injury. It was Lionel MESSI who opened the score for Barca, lashing an unstoppable drive past Jordi CODINA in the seventh minute.
With Barcelona winning their game, Real Madrid had to keep pace with them at the top of the table. They did just that with a 3-0 win against Espanyol. Gonzalo HIGUAIN, starting from the bench, came in the 72nd minute for Karim BENZEMA. He coolly rounded up Carlos KAMENI and rolled the ball into an empty net.
In other leagues, Ancona defeated Albinoleffe 2-1 with Matias MIRAMONTES scoring the winning the goal for the home side in Serie B. While in the Greek Super League, AEK Athens defeated FC Xanthi 3-1 with two goals from Ismael BLANCO.
higuain keeps showing us what a fantastic goal scores he is, he is one of the keys to us succeding in the wc 2010.
ReplyDeletebenega as i keep saying he deserves to partner mach in the nt, give him a chance diego as he is one of the most inform midfielders in spain and always looks a class player in both attack and defence.
Man..........Ever Banega......simply brilliant......
ReplyDeleteHe shud be the ans to our MF problems.....
Awesome match from him
anybody thinks Milito should be in the NT if he gets more playing time...which i think he will.
ReplyDeleteMilito, Samuel, and Demichelis would make a very solid backline.
Banega brilliant as always. Messi...old news.
It really hurts that such a talented generation is being wasted!
Well it doesn't really matter how much we shout here, diego will not listen to was. But Gabi Milito's performance today shows why he is probably the best Argentine centre-back available along with Samuel. Argentina has never been really a good defensive unit like other big teams. But as we all know, defending a goal is easier than scoring a goal. If we can find a somehow solid backline, our superbly talented forwards and midfielders will provide goals for us to win the WC. But with maradona in charge, is there any chance???
ReplyDeletepls maradona....pls put these name into your WC team...pls....gabi milito...demechelis...samuel....
ReplyDeletethose names are going to be our man of steel at the backline....nobody can break this formation.....
vamos argentina...vamos...
Nice to see those three goals and especially the one from Banega. He is already proving to be a good field manager and if he can blast a few like that from time to time....and Higuain can make it look easy, no ? Great work. If Banega doesn't make the squad for the WC it will be a crime.
ReplyDeleteI really hope Diego was watching La Liga this weekend. He can't justify not calling Ever from his performance this season. He at least deserves a start against Germany on March 3 to be fair. As for Gabriel Milito, you think it is too little too late for him? I would also like to see him start against Germany to try and prove his worth to the national team but when it comes down to it I'd much rather see Demichelis paired up with Samuel. Those two would be a solid CB pairing.
ReplyDeleteAnd as I type this, Samuel just scores another header off a corner kick for Inter. We could really use his height and strength in the area. Open your eyes Diego!
....and Milito gets his 14th goal of the season for Inter, but why would Maradona ever start him? That wouldn't make any sense when you have quality strickers like Palermo. This is so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteIt is interesting how many of our players started performing this season; Tevez, Banega, Higuain, Saviola... etc all showing great improvement; it could be the world cup fever and the passion to get a ticket for South Africa, but anyways it is always good news to see our kids doing well in Europe.
ReplyDeleteI lost the track of counting the players Diego had called so far; 102 may be? but it is very interesting to see Banega and Samuel, the best we have in their positions are not among them, really really weird.
I am very disappointed to have this pool of talent and the easiest world cup group in my memory to go down the drain easily in this way.
