Thanks Sirus for the updates. I’ve been getting this breaking news from a couple of website so I’m still not too sure whether this could be the selection picked by Diego for next month’s World Cup Qualifier double header (against Brazil on the 5th of September and Paraguay four days later).
We shall for wait Seba to give us his confirmation but in the meantime I thought I just share this with the rest of you. As of now the list only includes the names of overseas based players.
Goalkeepers
Juan Pablo CARIZZO (Real Zaragoza)
Mariano ANDUJAR (Catania)
Sergio ROMERO (AZ Alkmaar)
Defenders
Javier ZANETTI (Inter Milan)
Nicolas PAREJA (Espanyol)
Fabricio COLOCCINI (Newcastle)
Gabriel HEINZE (Marseille)
Nicolas BURDISSO (Inter Milan)
Midfielders
Fernando GAGO (Real Madrid)
Javier MASCHERANO (Liverpool)
Maxi RODRIGUEZ (Atletico Madrid)
Jesus DATOLO (Napoli)
Jonas GUTIERREZ (Newcastle)
Forwards
Carlos TEVEZ (Manchester City)
Lionel MESSI (Barcelona)
Sergio AGUERO (Atletico Madrid)
Diego MILITO (Inter Milan)
Lisandro LOPEZ (Lyon)
Ezequiel LAVEZZI (Napoli)
there are 19 player... Therefore + 4 player from domestic league... Maybe +local based Otamendi, Veron, Papa, Schiavi
ReplyDeleteI just can not believe it!! Maradona still call milito...He should leave him. I think he better choose Crespo than Milito, if the coach considering seniority figure in national team. I know Milito has only few chance to make a starter. But when got the chance, he proves nothing!! In friendly match against Russia for an instance...
ReplyDeleteSince Maradona not considering Higuain, well...Crespo is the best option better than Milito
This just keep on getting more tragic every time Maradona releases a new call-up list. The defence is a complete JOKE!!
ReplyDeleteCollocini + Burdisso + Heinze all got humuliated by Brazil either in Finals or Friendlies. Whatever happened to real solid defenders like Samuel and Garay?!
As for the midfield, notice how there's not one single playmaker in the team.
As for Jonas, I have to admit i'm not a fan at all, but after my brother saw him play against Russia (for the first time) he was very impressed and said that he is the kind of player that is needed against a team like Brazil.
As for the Datolo, I'd definitely choose him over Maxi, in which the latter lost his touch judging from what I saw in his last 10 games for Argentina. Whereas Datolo has the desire to prove himself again and his performance against Russia really impressed that i'll put him in the line-up even if he has no experience at all!
As for the attack, I'd choose Aguero to partner Lopez with Messi playing behind those two. Both strikers have been in red hot form recently.
I also have to admit that I really lost hope on Higuain, Zarate, Cambiasso, Garay and Samuel ever getting another call-up from Maradona.
ReplyDeleteMy favourite line-up (judging from these players) against Brazil would be
Andujar
Zanetti Burdisso? Otamendi Heinze?
Mascherano
Jonas Datolo
Messi
Aguero
Lopez
Our defenders are going to get murdered. If our strikeforce and home crowd we can win, but this will not work all the time.
ReplyDeleteJack!
Agree with the defense comments. Also, I think Maradona should have a local defense. Defenders should be available for him anytime he needs them since it's the weakest part of the NT. And I still can't understand why he insists with Heinze.
ReplyDeleteYes, I usually am worried about the offense misfiring, but the back looks real weak. Coloccini stinks, Burdisso is not a top flight player. I prefer Cata Diaz to either one of them. Remember, when he stunk it up he was playing outside. Come on Diego, if you must pick a back line of ex Boca players at least choose the best one !!!! When you consider the lethal assassins Adriano and Fabiano, well, they must be licking their lips looking at the back line. I hope I am wrong. We may have to score three or four goals to come out on top. Not easy with Julio Cesar.
ReplyDeleteDid any1 notice that most of our defenders have become the laughing stock of Europe..............Burdisso,Heinze,Colocini...
ReplyDeleteHow can........Diego keep on picking burdisso over samuel ......I ll nvr understand
Samuel is injured anyway even if he wanted to call him...
ReplyDeleteAmong our midfielders, not a single playmaker... is Diego anti-football?
ReplyDeleteA bit off topic, but it looks like Jonas Gutierrez might be set to transfer to Barcelona. A tribute to his talents that Barcelona wants to add him to their star studded roster. I hope he gets some time on the pitch !
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Salvio on the NT. IMO, the best player on the last U-20 and probably one of the most regular players in the national league.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Salvio is a great prospect but between the sub-20, the local league level AND the international scene is really different.
ReplyDeleteOh definitely Salvio should be there in one of the midfield spots.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I wanted to ask everyone 2 questions about two different players and what do you think about their future:
First is Diego Maradona Jr.: I once saw one highlight of him dribbling past one player in training and he resembled his father alot! Although I did't have my hopes high since I heard that he's Italian and that he wasn't that good of a player, but I'm curious, Did he get to impress in his River Plate Trial?
Another player I'm really willing to know about as I heard that he's going to be "the new Messi" about 2 years ago is Gerardo Bruna: Since he left Real Madrid for Liverpool, I never heard of him again and I don't think he's in this year's team of 23 players (although I'm not sure). Does he have any chance of making his break this year?
For ten bad you have one good:

Apparently Diego is monitoring Insua.
Seriously with this defence, unless we score 3 in the first half and even then I wont be able to rest assured the whole game and THAT IS if we scored. I mean Coloccini, heinze and burdiso (3 argentinian players i never ever come to like) in defence against the Brazilians. Even if we win this coming game, I see no way in hell we are going to win against the best in the world. They have been proven to be weak time and again. Man seems like Diego against used his heart then his head. I just hope his heart is right cause I seriously do not want to relive another nightmare we so often are awarded by the Brazilians.
