Oh boy! I didn’t expect this year’s French Open will turn out to be this crazy as it is. I know surprise can happen not at the expense of the likes Rafael NADAL or even Novak DJOKOVIC for that matter. Nevertheless this can only be good for tennis in general so that it wont be too predictable.
Juan Martin DEL POTRO qualified for the French Open quarter-finals for the first time on Monday thanks to a 6-1, 6-7 (5-7), 6-1 & 6-4 win over French ninth seed Jo-Wilfried TSONGA. He overcame a partisan home crowd and a determined challenge from TSONGA, in match last for over two hours and 40 minutes.
The Muhammad Ali look alike struggled to contain the deep hitting of DEL POTRO and was not helped by his own errant game as he hit 41 unforced errors as compare to Juan's 22.
DEL POTRO will now take on 16th seed Tommy ROBREDO next, meanwhile, after the Spaniard overcame Germany's Philipp KOHLSCHREIBER 6-4 5-7 7-6 (7-4) 6-2. Should he win his next tie, he could probably face the current hot favourite Roger FEDERER in the semi-final.
Though the last time these two met in a Grand Slam was forgetful event for DEL POTRO but certainly this is not a chance for him to miss.
Greatly done! I expected him to lose to Tsonga.....but ok, he will find his Nemesis in Roger I'm afraid...
