Random Video: The 2002 Era...

With all the talk of World Cup Qualifiers and the list just being released, I present you with... Batigol, la Brujita, Juampi, El Burrito and more! It's Argentina's 2002 team!

Yes, it's time for Random Video of the Day(even though it's rare that we have them). I've been wanting to post this video for a few days now and finally had time. In the video, it's mostly goals by Argentina in the 2002 World Cup Qualifiers, along with some clips from friendlys around that time(1998-2002). Truly a great video and illustrates how unlucky we were in 2002.

  1. It's too bad. In 2000-2001 Argentina beat everybody, Italy, Germany, Spain, Brazil. Bielsa had a fantastic team. But they peaked too early. Bc in 2002 it just didn't work anymore somehow, and there was no plan B :(

  2. Who was that in 3:40? was it Caniggia? or Bati? or Crespo?? Nice video, too bad we're not playing beautiful "Barca" flowing football as much as we used to. I still remember those days in the video when we used to be the best holding team in the world regarding possession.

Ahhh the 2002 team so much promise but yet so much heartbreak. What a shame, I really had high hopes for the team. When the Swedes hit that freekick my heart dropped. When Crespo got that goal in the dying stages I had little hope but it was not meant to be. I think this team Argentina has may have more talent but as a team I do not know. What can you do?

Some youth info, German Pacheco who plays for ATL Madrid youth team seems to be a kid to keep your eye on. Joined ATL Madrid from Velez and he is quality for the youth team. Not sure if he will be at Tolun for the tourney but he just maybe joing ATL Madrid first team next year. He is 17 years of age. Kun seems to really like the kid. A name to remember people!

    Jack!

  4. The one at 3:40 in that video is Claudio CANIGGIA (I'm 99% sure).

It was a heartbreak, indeed. As Latino said it, we peaked too early.

    A real shame.

  5. ahh Caniggia! my favourate winger off all time and the fastest player in the world. I loved this guy, too bad he didn't get a run during the 2002 world cup.
the greatest Argentine attack/midfield was in 1994 with Caniggia - Batistuta - Maradona

    Redondo - Simeone

wow shame that Maradona was suspended...

  6. stop it guys, i never wanted to have these memories again...what bad luck we always have in WC.

in 1990 we lost to a bad penalty call. in 1994 we had the best argentina team ever, but the blow of suspending maradona was a killer. in 1998 batistuta hit the post and ortega was dismissed instead of being granted a penalty. in 2002, just amazingly bad luck; and the exclusion of Riquelme and Saviola (who has just won the 2001 youth WC) did not help either.
then the worst day ever: in 2006 we are up 1-0 against germany and suddenly peckeman withdraws riquelme and crespo and keeps Messi out!!!!!!! will never get this...

OMG...just mentioning these memories kills me.

I remembered how unlucky our team experienced in 2002 very well. You"ll see many bounce from the pole . We had superior ball control over the opponence , 2 of the great striker , but no luck .
Moreover we didn"t have the plan B
