Argentina vs. Panama - Match Preview

The friendly against Panama is tomorrow(or today, depending on where you are!) and according to reports, this is the official line-up that MARADONA will put out.

Diego POZO, Matias CARUZZO, Nicolas OTAMENDI, Alexis FERRERO, Eduardo SALVIO, Hernan BERNADELLO, Fabian RINAUDO, Matias DE FEDERICO, Daniel MONTENEGRO, Jose SAND and Gonzalo BERGESSIO. Which would give us something like this.

------------------------POZO-----------------------------
---------FERRERO---CARUZZO---OTAMENDI----------
----BERNADELLO----RINAUDO-----DE FEDERICO-----
------------SALVIO--------MONTENEGRO--------------
------------SAND-----------------BERGESSIO-----------

At the moment, it is unknown whether Eduardo SALVIO will play beside MONTENEGRO or beside BERNADELLO. It also looks like MONTENEGRO will captain the team.

I've searched and I can't find out at what time the game will be played. So if anyone has some information, please, let us know!

  1. Thanks for this match preview, Roy.

Bad news for DI MARIA. CONMEBOL has given him a 4-match suspension after reviewing his red card against Bolivia.

Therefore, he'll miss the matches vs. Colombia, Ecuador, Brazil and Paraguay.

What a costly mistake by Angel. If considered by Diego, he'll only be able to play in the last two matches of the WCQ campaign (vs. Perú and Uruguay).

The match will be played at 7 PM local time in Argentina (that's 6 PM New York; 11 PM London, Midnight in Madrid, Rome and Paris and 6 AM on Thursday morning in Beijing).

  2. And please, please, please, those of you who will be able to watch the game, pay attention to OTAMENDI. He is here to stay. I wouldn't be surprised if he becomes a regular first team defender for us and makes it to the next World Cup.

Also...if you like speedy dribblers, Matías DEFEDERICO is your man.

And BERGESSIO is the most similar player to Wayne ROONEY in the entire planet. I've been saying this since he played for Racing (a couple of seasons ago). Incredible power and work-rate.

We'll see if these players I'm mentioning have a good performance or not, but they are my picks in the build up for the match.

I also rate Sebastián BLANCO very highly, but it looks like he'll be starting from the bench. It's OK, he's got a lot of time ahead of him and don't be surprised if you see him in Europe sooner rather than later.

More than that, Blanco is sightly injured. I dont know actually if he's going to play or at least come off from the bench

  9. the team will play 3-4-1-2... but Salvio and De Federico will usually (when Argentina has the ball) stand next to Montenegro. When Panamá has the ball, Salvio and De Federico will cover the right and left side of our defense.

So 3-2-3-2 when Argentina has the ball, and 3-4-1-2 when they don't.

It has been confirmed that Diego Milito has been signed by Inter Milan.

  11. Indeed, Akash. Thanks for breaking the news for us.

Diego MILITO will play for Inter next season. Champions League football for him. More exposure. I, personally, hope he can have more minutes for Argentina. I'm sure he won't let anybody down.

In other news, only half an hour before our match v. Panama.

The players are warming up before they return to the dressing rooms to get the match shirt and be back to start the game.

Thanks day1star for posting the links for everyone to be able to watch the game.

Another BIG thing I forgot to tell you before. I heard MARADONA saying that the idea is to have one team to face Colombia and a whole different second team to travel to Ecuador.

On Friday, MARADONA has to announce the list ahead of those two fixtures. We'll see what's in store for that.

  12. Great news about Milito going to Inter. Not sure about Ibrahimovic's future, but Milito/Ibra up front... Deadly!

As for the match, thanks day1star for the links.

Seba, I also heard that about Diego, too. That's what Pekerman used to do. One team for one match, another team for the other match. Hopefully it works out for us. HOWEVER, I would not want this current team to face Ecuador. We'll need some other players in there(Messi, Milito/Higuain, D'Alessandro perhaps?!)

And I was beginning to wonder when the list would be released. Friday should be interesting. Hope to see Cambiasso back on there. We really need him.

Federico opens the game up for Argentina with a beautiful strike. 1-0 almost half a hour gone.

Well Panama just answered, shocking defense from the team. 1-1.

  19. If this is the team that will play against Ecuador... it's not looking good.
