It did look like a playground game between our two NBA superstar. Both were like exchanging shots from one after another. Especially towards the ending of the game. But in the end, Manu GINOBILI just had the final say over time life long friend, Andres NOCIONI, as San Antonio Spurs beat the Chicago Bulls 92-87.
Manu had a game high of 21 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. He scored the final nine points of the game for the Spurs in the last 1:04. While NOCIONI had 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds plus 2 assists and a steal for Chicago. Fabricio OBERTO only had 2 points after only playing for 4 minutes plus.
With San Antonio down 82-81 in the final 2 minutes, Tony Parker spun around Derrick ROSE for a lay-up. Then, on the defensive end Bruce BOWEN stole a pass from NOCIONI to set up Manu’s 3-pointer that gave the Spurs an 86-82 lead with 1:04 left.
“What happened in Philadelphia was embarrassing,” Manu said. “We held a talented team to 87. That’s who we are. That’s who we want to be.”
Manu made two free throws to put the Spurs up 88-82 with 36.8 left. The Bulls had some hope left when PARKER fouled NOCIONI on a 3-point attempt. Chapu made three free throws to get to 90-87 with 31 seconds left, but he then fouled Manu on a 3-point attempt, who made two of three free throws.
“I thought we played good enough to win,” Chapu said. “But that’s the way we have to play every night. The last four games we played together and with much more effort.”
In another game the Houston Rockets defeated the Miami Heat 93-86. Luis SCOLA has posted 9 points, 5 rebounds and 1 assist.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the Spurs-Bulls game. It sounds exciting.
ReplyDelete..... I was just looking at the standings there for San Antonio and I noticed they had a really good road record, ranking fourth best in the league.
I quickly wondered why they're not further ahead in the standings, they're only 11th best at home, and are one loss away from equaling their loss total at home for the whole of last season.
Anyway, just struck me as a little odd. Maybe they had a tough home stretch earlier on in the year when they had all those injuries.
Manu has been playing great lately. Spurs had a let down game vs. Philly after the incredible game against the Lakers...good bounce back against the Bulls. Manu was great in the Laker game too.
ReplyDeleteDave, Spurs started off horribly, their worst start since the year before Duncan came to SA. Manu was out and later Parker got hurt. It actually ended up being a good thing for the Spurs. It helped with the developement of Mason and Hill.
