MILITO's hat-trick, ZARATE and CRUZ on target

It's such a prolific weekend for our stars in the Old Continent.

To add to the "poker" by Gonzalo HIGUAIN against Malaga, this Sunday saw a lot of Albiceleste's hopefuls finding the back of the net at will.

The best of the lot has to be Diego MILITO. His hat-trick was instrumental for Genoa to defeat Reggina 4-0. The other goal? Since Diego couldn't score it, he decided to participate with an assist.

Sensational stuff from the former Racing Club and Zaragoza striker who now has 9 goals in the Serie A and is the topscorer of the tournament.

José MOURINHO was under a lot of pressure and it was Julio CRUZ who saved him from a massive booing from the Inter fans as The Gardener scored on the 92nd minute to give the defending champions the three points against Udinese in a dull 1-0 win.

Elsewhere, Mauro ZARATE opened up the score for Lazio in their home win against Siena.

The Napoli duo of DENIS and LAVEZZI were not on target but their team won 2-0 over Sampdoria and are still in contention in the title race.

Good to see so many of our strikers with such impressive performances. HIGUAIN (4 goals), MILITO (3), CAVENAGHI, CRUZ (please Diego, don't call him!) and ZARATE one each. Diego MARADONA must be a happy manager these days.

(Again...wait for John to work his magic and upload the videos here)

  2. 1 quick thing(I know I'm extremely late on this) but last weekend Leandro Cufre scored for AS Monaco as they beat AC Le Havre in the French League 1.

As for this weekend, it's great to see. Actually, it's amazing to see. So many of our strikers are playing well. But here's the catch, our strikers that DID get called up by Diego didn't score! Lavezzi, Denis, Lopez and Tevez didn't score but the ones that were not called up did score!

Great weekend indeed! Keep up the good work guys.

  11. Haha!!! You're right Seba. It was funny! At least we're both on the same page.

By the way, another ZARATE was also on target. This time it's Eulogio from Grasshopper Zurich in their 1-2 defeat to FC Zurich.

P2BN, I apologize about the videos as it seems there is a rule that Youtube are not allowed to publish videos from recent match highlights. That is why, sometimes it is there and the next it could have been offload by the Youtube's administrator. I believe the same rule applies for all other video streaming websites. At this moment I don't have any solution for this, so Seba & myself will really appreciate if we could get some feedback from anyone on how tackle this problem.

While it is unclear that Diego would travel to places as far as Greece, Turkey, Belgium or Switzerland to monitor the Albiceleste progress. One thing we know is that from the moment the word was on the street that the Greatest is coming, the players have responded.

Now I'm not sure whether is this something that Diego plans to do more in future but at least we can imagine what the dressing room would be like with his presents there.

In fact I was very touch by the stories that were reported at Manchester United and Liverpool training ground when the news spread so fast about Diego's arrival.

As we all know about the heated rivalry between us and the English, players like Rio FERDINAND (who presented with a birthday present), Wayne ROONEY, Steven GERRARD and Jaime CARRAGHER (the latter two apparently sneaked out from training just to meet him, together with their family!) were in awe upon his presence. Sir Alex even mentioned that his players raised their game during their training sessions just to impress him.

There you can see despite the English media often over hyping him as a villain for his role in the 1986 World Cup (in my opinion it was the work of magic), many of the English players were still inspired by him to become footballers. They grew up watching him as their football idol.

You see Diego, this goes to show just how much you have touched and changed people lives.
