Brazil v Argentina - Match coverage

OK, less than an hour to go and the secret that's been Argentina's lineup is believed to be over.

Here's the probable lineup Olé, the only sporting newspaper of Argentina, is giving on their website:

ABBONDANZIERI; BURDISSO, COLOCCINI, HEINZE; ZANETTI, MASCHERANO, GAGO, Jonás GUTIERREZ; RIQUELME; MESSI and CRUZ.

So...our worst nightmares are becoming a reality with CRUZ starting tonight and AGÜERO sitting on the bench.

A back three to defend in one of the world's biggest pitches is also a concern for me, especially as our back three is not formed by the fastest men alive. So I imagine ZANETTI and Jonas GUTIERREZ tracking back a lot, along with MASCHERANO.

I'm also guessing we'll send a lot of crosses for CRUZ instead of betting on speed and dribbling ability that Kun could have given us.

I'm not going to continue talking a lot about a lineup that is not officialy confirmed.

Brazil will have ADRIANO starting up front with ROBINHO. I'm shaking already!

  2. Ignore that lineup you found at Goal.com, p2bn.

    It's old and it's wrong.

The one I posted above is the right one (and unfortunately it has CRUZ in it!)

Here's hoping CRUZ will shut the hell out of all of us by scoring a hat-trick. Anything less than that and I won't be happy!

Argentina are very close to eat a goal. Pato made a couple saves but a few min later he makes a mess out of it. Still 0-0, 26min gone.

What a close call with that last shot by Messi. Such a nice breakaway, but misfired. Hopefully in the 2nd!

Cruz!Cruz!Cruz! He doesn't show a bit interest in the match. He is just there. Man, I just can't believe this coach. And guys do you see any fight between messi and roman. Seems they still are bitter but trying to get along?

This is going to be last time Argentina will play in Brasil in prob 8 years or so. Becausue Brasil are the host for the 2014 WC and will not need to play to qualif, so I would like a result a point will be nice!

Yea it was close. I am happy that they played so tough vs them. I think Brasil is the only team that has their#, but getting a tie in Brasil is A OK with me. Messi had a chance to win it. I have to say the man of the match was Mascherano, he was a BEAST!!! Myabe that Mascerhano N Gago might work out. Instead of using Cruz so DAMN much who missed a clear shot, try Pipitia!

Well P2bn, they did not try to get cute with them as they did in Copa America. The defense was pretty good, I mean they beat the Brasilian's down! Cruz was a FOOL ofcourse, Messi did a lot of work, Roman did not really give the ball away, Mascherano and Gago were EVERYWHERE. I am so happy the team has Mascherano(I say future cap of the team, he is BORN LEADER!!!!). Kun came in and made some noise, Messi almost came with a game winning goal from a shot outside the box but it was saved. THANK GOD VERON,Riquelme did not play together or I would of thrown up. I think the game vs Ecuador was well, Argentina had their mind on Brasil and fell asleep, they said Ahnn we will beat them 5-0 but it did not work out that way. Last time around in the qualifers, Argentina had 3 points in 2 games, this time around it is 2 points.

Just look@ the other games, Bolivia Spank Paraguay 4-2 in La Paz(ANOTHER TOUGH TOUGH place to play), Ecuador tie with Colombia 0-0. So I will walk away with a ok.
