Argentina host Ecuador thinking of Brazil

With the clash against Brazil next Wednesday in mind, Argentina will host another kind of fellows who will be dressed in yellow. It's Ecuador coming to Buenos Aires and unfortunately, I won't be either at the match or anywhere near a computer to provide you with comments and updates.

But here's the space for you to share your views on the game and support Argentina from the corner of the world you're living at.

The probable lineup looks to be the one I published a few days back. Here goes again:

ABBONDANZIERI;
BURDISSO, DEMICHELIS and HEINZE;
ZANETTI, MASCHERANO, MAXI RODRIGUEZ and VERON;
RIQUELME;
AGÜERO and MESSI.

Here's an URL in which a few links to watch the match online will appear closer to kick-off time:

http://myp2p.eu/broadcast.php?matchid=13443&part=sports

With Colombia and Perú drawing in Lima and Venezuela taking a point off their visit to Uruguay, Argentina now sit sharing second place with Colombia, one point behind lone leaders Paraguay and just one point ahead of Brazil.

Brazil will travel to Paraguay and a win by them or a draw, combined with a win by Argentina, will mean the Albicelestes will go top of the standings just in time to visit Belo Horizonte to play the biggest match in World Football on Wednesday.

VAMOS ARGENTINA!

    I just wish I could swear in this blog. I am telling you guys, this keeper is just just just not for our team. If he can't stop such ball, what is he there for!!! Seems like Cruz also brings unluck with him. They had their first shot and goal. Just horrible! Why the hell do we have to be the better playing team and possibly lose now. God!!! This is just so so horrible.

    Come on Guys!! Somebody tell me! What do we need to do to win while playing good! Ten minutes remaining but I have basically loosed all hope. Messi and Aguero are woprking so hard. Especially messi is giving all he has and yet nothing seems to be working. Roman is just lose except some good moves. But the team is not functioning as a team. Veron is shooting at stars. I feel so bad for messi sometimes.He just works his shit out but the team is just not working. Our keeper is just so bad. I don't even cant tell what to do to win. Was Mexico one off? I am having a real bad feeling guys.

    Arg pretty much can drop 9 points from their last 3 games. Losing to Col, Ecuador(4min left+added time) then have to travel to Brasil.

    Argentina does not lose@ home period! nobody and not to a team like Ecuador, this is awful. A lot of answers are going to be needed. Hey a new coach maybe! give Guss Hiddink a call after the Euros are done! But that will never happen.

    I agree this game was supposed to be a free pass 3 points in the bank. but I think the teams was thinking about the next game@Brasil. Giving up points@ home is NEVER good. Palacio comes in for about 10min or so scores and that bum BUM Cruz has been in the game for 90Min and misses chance after chance. That guy needs to go, as well@ Pato. I hate Pato with a passion,i'm sorry I just do! Just dropped 2 points@ home, now if Argentina geet a W in Brasil I might sing another tune, but for some reason every time Argentina plays in Brasil it is a 3-1 loss, and Brasil will be on those counter attacks all day. Please please please lets get a bit more creative, Riquelme was a GHOST! Messi and Aguero did all the work.

    This is is the thing with Argentina, they play an amazing game and they get all the prasie in the world then they play with no style or passion. Look@ the Serbia game, crush them 6-0 then next round need a miracle goal vs Mexico to go through. Last week crush Mexico 4-1, with style,creatitive, imaganation, then play a BORING game vs the US then come play@ home and need another a dying goal in the last few seconds to win this. I posted this after the Mexico game, that do not be shocked if it happens, and well here you go! They take some games lightly and almost pay for it.

    Hi guys. Watched the game. Thought Riquelme was anon for the entire match. Cruz is also not international class. What has happened to Cavenaghi? And I feel Tevez and Cambiasso were missed today. Team looked unbalanced imo. Your thoughts

    I don't know Jack if they take some game lightly cause from what I see, messi was playing to win as well as Aguero. I have to admit, it was not Roman's day, but that's the risk we take with Roman. He is best some days, some days he just is not there. But the keeper, come on, he is old and we need someone else any ways. Sure Basile will know far more football then us but he is dead wrong to keep on playing Pato, Veron and Cruz. Look at Zanetti, he plays so well. We are not against any old player but its the quality and the ones that fit in. We might win with Brazil, they haven't been in their best currently but they are always like this in the qualifiers but I am talking about the future. We need to win this 2010 guys otherwise I really feel it will take some 30 more year or so cause I remember Batistuta, Ronaldo clinched what should have been his glory and I just always feel that. I really hope this another Ronaldo, who I feel is nothing but a Roadrunner takes away our Messi's Glory due to some stupid coaching.

  20. I don't know what to say. People were saying that Basile would get fired if we lost versus Brazil... we almost lost versus ECUADOR... in ARGENTINA. I was expecting a 2-1... no 3-1 victory(it's impossible to keep a clean sheet with Pato in goal). But we drew 1-1. It's not the worst result in the world, but not the best either. In a way, I'm glad we drew so that it wakes the players up and reminds them what the hell they are playing for and for WHO they are playing for. To qualify for 2010 and playing for Argentina. As for Messi, bless his little heart. He gives a 120% in EVERY game. For Barcelona or Argentina. Aguero played well and so did Veron. Brazil up next...

    Batigol was a pure goal scorer and put him in the box and you got a goal. Ronaldo was an AMAZING player, everytime he played I watched, batigol and ronaldo were total the diff players.

    Messi, now Messi talent I mean on the ball and creatitve is far better then Batigols, Batigol scored goal after goal after goal. A Brasilian taken Messi's glory, well lets talk about that.

    Glory means nothing but winning, why was Ronaldo talked about so much? It was because he won pretty much everything, why isnt Batigol talked about that much, well he did not win a WC.

    I agree 2010 has to be Argentina's year, because look 2014 the WC is in Brasil(Yikes). If history repeats itself the WC in 2010 will belong to ARG or Brasil, because no team from Europe has won the WC outside of Europe.

    I agree Pato has to go, and look Basile might not be the coach for the side. I would love a Guss Hiddink to take over as the coach, look what he has done with all the teams he has had.

    Holland in 98- Semi's lost to PK vs Brasil
    South Korea 02- Semis lost to Germany
    Aussies- Took them to round of 16 and lost to the WC italy and the Italians were on their toes and got a LUCKY PK.

    But enough about Guss Hiddink coaching the team. A few things need to happen. A true #9 is needed, simple as that. Cruz has to go, maybe give Caveigol a shot, or try out Di Santo in the olympics and see how well he does. Great on the ball, he has about 6'4 and has a great imaganation. Cruz was a 1 year wonder in the Seria A a couple years back and scored tons of goals but he is not a player we need for the international team. Also playing Riquelme and Veron together that makes me SICK! to my stomach. When Cambiasso comes back, he will take over Gago's spot, but I like Gago. Another player they need to start playing is Angel Di Maria, plays like a Cristaino Ronaldo and has a WICKED left foot. Do not worry about the talent in Argentina they will always have the talent just like the Brasilians. Sometimes Argentina plays at 1/4th speed, they need a push. But lets just say hypothetically Argentina beats Brasil in Brasil, will we be singing another tune.? I want the team to come out with some points.

    Brasil always has Argentina number, Argentina needs to protect those counter attacks, simple as that. I feel you Lucas, I was about to shut off my tv, I started to watch the game from the 55min, I has to run someplace before, I come home to a 0-0. I was like what is going on,then I see Ecuador passing the ball around and the Ecuadorian fans chanting Ole, then BAM , you see Pato looking like a fool. The ball goes into the net then he moves! He is a duck alright, he just sits there!

  26. I’m not sure where do I start from? Of course the formation was not something that surprise me at all. But in the end, I’ve got to agree with everyone here that we are NOT best prepared against Brazil.

    Pato was out of position (when Ecuador scored) and that this is really depressing to see from someone with his experience and caliber. I never occurred to me that the day that we could have our own calamity keeper guarding our post.

    I just kept wondering what happen to that team that played so well against Mexico. It was then I realize that the inclusion of VERON and to a certain extent ROMAN really kind of mess things up in midfield. Every single movement the team made look so predictable.

    MASCHERANO did well in wining back the ball and was influential in front of the back four. Much of Maxi’s blistering pace down the flanks was reduce because of the slow movement between VERON and ROMAN. At one moment, I almost believe that Roman was not even in the game.

    Okay VERON did have some magic moment in the game and for most part of it ensured that we kept possession of the ball. But that’s all we did. There was not much edge and bite from our offensive movement that really looked like we are going to score.

    I felt pity for Kun for the couple of chances that he had missed. MESSI was doing his part in helping the team caused.

    But what shocked me the most were the names that appeared in the bench, No CAVENAGHI and LOPEZ. Instead, Coco kept his faith in the misfiring CRUZ. He missed two clear chances. How much more can we take from this? Thank God, PALACIO was there to save the day.

    Let me tell you this, Brazil might have lost to Paraguay but after watching our boys played like they did, I’m sure the boys in yellow will be smiling right now.

    A further blow is that Martin DEMICHELIS will be suspended for the game. And with Coco stubbornness, it is most likely that he will maintain the same line up just prove to everyone that he was right all the while.
