Yeah football is back and what can I say, it was a massive weekend. Now does anyone out there know what does Carlos TEVEZ, Fernando CAVENAGHI, Lisandro LOPEZ and Diego MILITO have in common? Well they were all double scorer for their respective clubs.
English Premier League
First of all despite all their trouble over the week, Newcastle did put up a brave a performance in the first half against Man Utd. But certainly as soon as they first goal was scored, it was all going down hill for them.
Carlos TEVEZ was on target twice with second one looking pretty suspicious. Cristiano RONALDO may have scored a hat trick but was all this possible if wasn’t for TEVEZ energetic and industrial performance. Remember he did assist one of RONALDO’s goals.
French Ligue 1
Fernando CAVENAGHI scored twice to help Bordeaux beat Auxerre 4-1 and move them within 6 points of league leader Lyon.
Italian Serie A
Internazionale continued from they left off with a 3-2 win over Siena to maintain their lead at the top of the league. This time however they were no goals from Julio CRUZ.
Instead it was Esteban CAMBIASSO, who scored Inter’s second goal after picking up a pass from Zlatan IBRAHIMOVIC at full stretch and flicked the ball beyond the reach of Siena’s goalkeeper Alexander MANNIGER.
The much talk about Alexandre PATO’s debut for AC Milan wasn’t what I like to expect as the Milan side routed Napoli to a 5-2 win, with Roberto SOSA scoring for the Naples side in the 28th minute.
Spanish Primera Liga
A double strike from Diego MILITO was still not good enough for Real Zaragoza as they drew 2-2 with Ariel IBAGAZA’s Real Mallorca.
Sergio Kun AGUERO scored the only in Atletico Madrid win over Valencia. Ever BANEGA made his debut for Valencia when he came on from the bench in the 47th minute.
Portuguese Liga
FC Porto hammered Sporting Braga 4-0 with couple of strikes from Lisandro LOPEZ and one from Ernesto FARIAS. Lucho GONZALEZ was in the starting line up with both Mario BOLATTI and Mariano GONZALEZ were second half substitutes.
And Juan Krupoviesa got a straight red and booted out of Marseille's match. Thanks for the news John !
ReplyDeleteTevez rocks, Reds marchiongon!
ReplyDeleteIt's great to finally have KUN back to scoring ways. Always hard-working, creative, & creating space from nothing.
ReplyDeleteIt's great to read CAVENAGHI is scoring goals at Bordeaux. His time in Russia hindered his career a bit, but it looks like things are finally back on track.
chau.
Not to forget Mariano PAVONE's brace for Betis and Fernando FORESTIERI (a youngster -17 years old- out of Boca's youth system) who scored for Siena against Inter. FORESTIERI's been called up for the Italian U19s.
ReplyDeleteWe (or I) need a high tech database to keep track of all the Argies spread out over the world. I forgot about Pavone. I watched the Inter match and was unaware of Forestieri's background. I also watched Milan yesterday and I hope they are not finally getting their act together, but they looked scary yesterday with the Brazilian boys rampaging around the pitch. What's with Ronaldo's pelo ? Looks like he's heading to an afro.
ReplyDeleteRONALDO's pelo? It's like everything is gordo for him these days. But what an immense player he still is.
ReplyDeleteHaving fun in DF, Johnny?
Hope you're alright!
Hey Seba ! I am bored to death here ! Making plans to head on. You are dead on about El Gordo. He did look a little winded at times the other day, but still with some very slick moves. Still muy peligroso. Glad to see you are hitting the keyboard a little !
ReplyDeleteLets not talk about FORESTIERI, the kid and his family are sell outs! A year back or so, he said "Maradona is my hero, and I want to follow in his footsteps". Now his family thinks it is too dangerous for him to be in Argentina, and play for the natl team, I say SCRAM! When Boca gave him a play to live, put him under its wing then move out and not play for the country that helped him and his family, that is a shame. But no worries, ARG has players like him a dime a dozen.
