As I write, the match between Liverpool and Toulouse have just started and we've got a couple of Argentine players in action.
Javier MASCHERANO is in the starting lineup for the visitors, that despite having 4 Argies in their squad (Emiliano INSUA, Gabriel PALETTA and Sebastián LETO being the other three), none of them is in the bench.
For the French side, Mauro CETTO will have the difficult task of marking Peter CROUCH and the Ukrainian Andriy VORONIN.
Later Today, the much expected debut of Carlitos TEVEZ playing for Manchester United against Portsmouth.
And Lionel MESSI may see some action against Bayern Munich in a friendly match. The German side might use José SOSA and Martin DEMICHELIS at some stage.
Updating on a situation from earlier this week, Sergio AGÜERO seem to be poised to start for Atletico de Madrid when they face Vojvodina (Serbia) in a UEFA Cup match. Atletico's manager, Javier AGUIRRE, said he will use Kun because his showing a good standard of performances.
Now...I'm able to watch this Liverpool v Toulouse match, but I'll have to leave for work right when FC Barcelona v Bayern Munich kicks-off. And I'll miss Carlitos' debut for Manchester United. But, I might be able to go online and therefore, if you are watching and can keep me posted here, I'll appreciate it!
Si Senor !! I will send you some Carlitos updates.
ReplyDeleteGracias Juancito!
ReplyDeleteDid you just see VORONIN's goal for Liverpool?
You better check it out! What a rocket!
Liverpool 1-0 Toulouse (44 minutes of first half gone).
Voronin bangs one home for Liverpool. Masche found himself with two offensive chances but struggled. Come on Masche ! Bring back that Copa magic !
ReplyDeleteGroovy Barca uni's!
ReplyDeletemessi might of earned himself a first team spot. I still see Eto'o being the one whose position was threatened by Henry.
ReplyDeleteReceived a couple of calls when MESSI scored. Was it a great goal?
ReplyDeletePremiership matches have started. Carlitos is wearing the number 32 shirt and is playing.
Try and see if these links work for you (they are not working for me here at the office..)

ManU match started before 4pm ! Missed the first 7 minutes ! No score.
ReplyDeleteStarted 19:45 their time (15:45 Buenos Aires). I thought FOX Sports (Latin America) would show the game starting at 16:00 with a ridiculous 15 minutes delay.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the case?
I switched over and already on ! Man U scores. Scholes(sp) on a nice little shovel from Carlitos !
ReplyDeleteSCHOLES scores. Carlitos assisted him!
ReplyDelete3 points for my fantasy team with Carlitos!
How was the goal Juancito?
In the middle, Carlos with a little side pass to Scholes who hit a clean winner !
ReplyDeleteOuch ! Carlitos very briefly had his boot on the ball right in front of the net following a parry of a curling Ronaldo shot. Que lastima !!
ReplyDeleteChelsea losing 1-0 to Reading.
ReplyDeleteMan City 1-0 up against Derby.
Fulham 2-1 Bolton
Birmingham 1-0 Sunderland
And of course Man Utd. 1-0 Portsmouth.
1zip ManU at half. ManU dangerous but they certainly don't have that killer look and coordination in midfield that characterized their play last season. Will take awhile to get the new personnel to gel.
ReplyDeleteGo Reading !!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not watching the game, of course, but my impression is that the size of the pitch at Fratton Park will never help a team like Utd, because the space is reduced.
ReplyDeleteA good result for them so far, anyway.
What's your opinion on TEVEZ's first half performance? (if you don't mind me asking).
I think Tevez is playing very well, especially for his first match. He's always trying to get the ball from defenders, running around and stuff. He was unlucky not to score on his chance, but I guess you can't have everything. One assist for Tevez and I have him in my pool aswell:).
ReplyDeletePortsmouth scores on a header. Just after Carlos missed high on a shot in the area. Seba- a typical Carlos match. Maybe not as sharp with his shot as he will be in 2-3 weeks.
ReplyDeleteScreaming free kick by Ronaldo blocked.
ReplyDeleteThe pace has picked up. Portsmouth getting too much penetration. ManU could use Masche !
ReplyDeleteMore pressure from Portsmouth. Nice save from Pinocho(or whatever his nickname is).
ReplyDeleteTwo near misses in row by Giggs and Vidic.
ReplyDeleteAnother close one, this time by Carlitos off another blocked shot by Ronaldo.
ReplyDeletePortsmouth player with the ball at his feet, in the area, and nobody between him and the keeper-Falls Down !!
ReplyDeleteNani with way too many shots that have little chance for success.
ReplyDeleteO'Shea in-Giggs out.
ReplyDeleteRed card for Ronaldo ! Big spat involving Vidic and others. I couldn't tell why Ronaldo got booted. A few yellows handed out. Scholes just misses with a header.
ReplyDeleteTevez fouled just outside the area.
ReplyDeleteNani with another moon shot !
ReplyDeleteThanks Johnny. Great updates.
ReplyDeleteSo RONALDO kills my fantasy team! -2 because of a red card and no production!
1-1 full time now.
And Man City will go to Old Trafford with two consecutive wins in their record (pressure will all be in United's shoulders).
1-1. Overall, not a bad performance from Carlitos. He assisted on Man U's only score and played hard. He didn't have as many touches as I would have hoped for. Probably not in tip top shape, which is no surprise. ManU looks VERY frustrated.
ReplyDeleteThe Atomic Flea scored Barca's goal today in a 1-0 win.
ReplyDeleteI blame Ronaldo and Nani. I like Ronaldo, I really do but what the HELL? He takes on one defender and sends a shot going outside the stadium. Nani aswell. He had alot more posession than he should of had. Their not using Tevez like they should. They stuck him in there with Giggs, Ronaldo and Nani. 2 of which are ball hoggers. Tevez and Giggs is fine, they can support each other. But this is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteTevez didn't have his best game by any means, but it was far from bad.
Why is Nani cutting into middle all the time? he clearly was better out wide.
ReplyDeletecarlito isn't getting enough chances. and that one shot should of gone in. Crazy save by david james.
Seba..CARLITOS has to travel to the CITY OF MANCHESTER STADIUM, so lets hope he doesn't get the derby jitters.
ReplyDeleteLast nights game was frustrating if you are a MAN UTD fan and TEVEZ did his part for the team, one moment i really thought he was going to unleash a shot when he was leading a break but decided to pass to RONALDO.
Yes, its devastating to have RONALDO in the fantasy team, but he did play well in my eyes until the stupid red card.
And Ronaldo might be gone for three matches ! So, next time Carlitos might just unleash that shot !
ReplyDeleteYou are right Alwin. I assumed it was at Old Trafford as Utd played an away match today and City entertained Derby at the City or Manchester Stadium.
ReplyDeleteEven worst news for the Red Devils then.
No RONALDO, no ROONEY...Carlitos could be up for a great chance to start putting the Utd supporters in his pocket!
Plus...if he doesn't deliver, nobody can really blame him. It's a win-win situation for Carlitos.
