Every year we ask the same question: Will Argentina win the Davis Cup this time?
Today the moment to start giving some answers has come for our team.
Without our best player of the moment, David NALBANDIAN, Argentina will look for a difficult first round away tie against Austria.
José ACASUSO and Guillermo CAÑAS will face Stefan KOUBEK and Jurgen MELTZER respectively on Friday.
It´s going to be very tough playing on a fast surface that clearly gives the advantage to the Austrians, but we´ll see if the team steps up to the challenge.

Impressive performance by our tennis players taking a 2-0 advantage into Saturday´s doubles.
ReplyDeleteI must confess I was a little bit concern about Argentina playing without NALBANDIAN and CAÑAS playing not at the top of his fitness levels.
ACASUSO once again proved that he is very solid playing Davis Cup and now we are very close to secure a quarterfinal tie against either Sweden or Belarus (Sweden have the advantage winning 2-0 after Friday´s matches).
It ended up 4-1. We lost the doubles but then on Sunday we received with joy the news that Juan Martín DEL POTRO is now ready for the big time.
ReplyDeleteOn his debut he defeated Jurgen MELTZER in the fifth set, to give Argentina the third point and secure our ticket for the quarterfinals (away against Sweden).
