Carlitos Steers Citizen against the Latics

For the past two weeks it's was Lionel MESSI (twice) and Gonzalo HIGUAIN and now add Carlos TEVEZ into the list of hat trick heroes for the month of March.

Manchester City hopes of securing a place in next season's Champions League took a bright turn when Carlitos inspired them to a 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic, despite having to work hard for most part of the game.

They broke the deadlock in the 72nd minute when TEVEZ tapped into an empty net after goalkeeper Vladimir STOJKOVIC missed Patrick VIERA's high ball. In just three minutes later he added his second and this secured City's win but they kept pushing for more.  No surprising indeed that City's third goal came from the little fella and he completed his trick in the 85th minute.

Overall I must say that I'm happy for TEVEZ as it's been a while since we've seen him in such of form. Now here is a simple question; among the possible names of forward that might head to South Africa, where would you ranked TEVEZ in your list alongside MESSI, HIGUAIN, Diego MILITO or Kun AGUERO (you may add Martin PALERMO if you want to).

I love Carlitos but I don't think he can crack the top three of Messi, Milito and Higuain. If only he had a better track record with the NT. I still think he is a better all around player than Aguero or Saviola.

Keep on keepin' on Carlitos !!

To me Tevez is our best man to pair up front with Higuain, while Messi plays behind them or on the right wing.

I am not sure about this information, but I read that Tevez was the first ever EPL player to score a hat-trick in 12 mins.

Milito and Higuain are too similar as poachers - both Tevez and Aguero can create their own opportunities. I agree that ARG needs all 3 (Tevez/Aguero, Milito/Higuian, Messi) on the field to maximize their chances vs the top teams.

ive said in other posts about tevez that he is 5th for me behind messi, hig, milito and saviola.
tevezs club from is great but sadly his nt form has been shite and even the last outing v germany(a chance to prove hes change even if only for 30 mins i realise) he did nothing to convince me he would be a starter over the 4 i put ahead of him.

Abs: here's a link with info on the fastest premiership hat-trick (scored by Robbie FOWLER in 1994. He only took 4 minutes and 33 seconds).

There's also a video of that impressive hat-trick from Robbie:

http://flicktokick.wordpress.com/2007/08/28/on-this-day-fowler-scores-fastest-hat-trick-in-premier-league-history/

I was watching the game today and the minute he scored his first goal I told my wife: "Now he's getting a hat-trick". Not that I'm great at predicting (as you all know), but I saw it coming.

There's no stopping TEVEZ when he is on his day. Here's hoping he's got at least 7 good days this summer. That's all we need from him!

Romero-Jonas-Garay-Samuel-G. Milito(yes, as a left-back), Masch, Benega, Di Maria, Tevez-D. Milito-Messi.
4-3-3, the only way to get the best out of Messi and Argentina.

Tevez will ONLY look good if he's the go-to man (someone that his teammates always give the ball to). That's why he looks good for Corinthians, Boca, Argentina Olympic, and City. He's not a good role player. He only looks good when he's the Michael Jordan of the team. Argentina can't give that role to him because we have Messi. However, if Messi is unavailable, no one in the whole Argentina is better than Tevez to step up.

If I were the coach, I also would want 3 upfront: Messi, Higuain, and Tevez upfront..with Di Maria on the left. We might see that kind of formation, but for now Maradona's strongest line up appears to be the one against Germany: Romero; Otamendi, Demichelis, Samuel, Heinze; Mascherano, Veron, Gutierrez, Di Maria; Messi, and Higuain, which is not bad at all.

LM10ARG: Your starting team is pretty good!!! I like everything in the team especially the back 4. Only thing I would change is put Higuain(much to your dislike) instead of Tevez. But other than that, the team is the strongest we could put.

I rate Tevez as the 4th striker.

Messi is always going to be number one but at the same time I consider him an attacking midfielder. But since Diego plays him as a striker here are my rankings....

MESSI
HIGUIAN
MILITO
TEVEZ

As for a starting lineup, I have seen (and posted myself) several different lineups/formations but I can't recall ever seeing a 'christmas tree' formation (4-3-2-1) posted. I really like this formation because it has the perfect balance of defending and attack. Off the top of my head, here is a starting 11 using this formation.....

ROMERO
JONAS-DEMICHELIS-SAMUEL-ZANETTI (i think my ideal backline)
PASTORE-MASCHERANO-DI MARIA
MESSI-TEVEZ
HIGUIAN

I know it seems like alot of attackers on with Pastore and Di Maria on the wings but with Mascherano and that four in the back I think we would be solid all over the pitch.

@ Principee:

Tevez did more than great with Man U whenever he got the chance, and I am sure he was never a go-to man at Man U.

@ GK:

I know you see Zanetti plays as a LB with Inter, and play with heart, but Zanetti is full of mistakes when it comes to Argentina.
And yes, too much attacking !!
