Information avalanche

After 8 months of hard work, I'm leaving Brazil. I'll be flying all day on Wednesday and I don't know when my last post is going to be.

But I'm willing to sleep a little bit less in order to give you the latest relevant info about the Albicelestes around the World.

Here are some headlines and brief info on the main activities and news involving Argentine teams and players:

Argentina with confirmed lineup to face Norway

USTARI

ZANETTI (captain), Ezequiel GARAY, Nicolás BURDISSO and Gabriel MILITO (moving to left back for this match).

Javier MASCHERANO, Maxi RODRIGUEZ (left), Lucho GONZALEZ (right) and Lionel MESSI (as play-maker).

Up front? Ezequiel LAVEZZI and Diego MILITO (rumoured to be on the verge to a move to Real Madrid, which will see him playing in Gabriel MILITO's arch-rivals, just like back in the days when Diego played for Racing and Gabriel for Independiente in Argentina).

Also...

Coco BASILE have announced his decision of not training with the players that still compete in the local league because he doesn't have the support he needs from the Argentine clubs and that they always blame the National Team of the injuries the players suffer.

Los Pibitos face Honduras with a win as the only option
Argentina will play their second match in the U17 World Cup Korea 2007. Our rivals will be Honduras (lost 4-2 against Spain in their first game). Anything but a win will be a horrible result for our little boys as they will be up against Spain in the third match and they would risk an early exit if they arrive to that fixture without a win in their bag. The match will be played at the Ulsan Complex Stadium on Wednesday at 8 AM (Buenos Aires), 8 PM local time.

Gabriel HEINZE is a new Real Madrid player
After a troublesome period between the end of the Copa America and the beginning of the European season, Gabriel HEINZE saw his intention of moving to Liverpool soundly crashing. But, when everything looked set for him to be left out of Sir Alex FERGUSON's plans at Old Trafford for this season, he saw the light at the end of the tunnel and it is a bright white light: Real Madrid. El Gringo will join the White Empire in exchange of 12 million euros. He becomes the fourth Argentine in the current Real Madrid squad, joining Fernando GAGO, Gonzalo HIGUAIN and Javier SAVIOLA. They could soon be followed by Diego MILITO (as mentioned above).

Gabriel PALETTA joins Boca on loan from Liverpool
From Banfield (a small team from the Southern area of the Great Buenos Aires -a huge region surrounding the City of Buenos Aires and gathering more than 10 million people-) to Liverpool. It was a hell of a leap for Gabriel PALETTA to make. And it proved very difficult for him to earn a spot as a regular in Rafa BENITEZ's team. In fact he only played a couple of Premiership matches last season when Liverpool had nothing to play for there and had to face AC Milan for the Champions League final.
Now he moves back to the Argentine league and will surely earn a lot of experience and playing time.

Basketball: FIBA Americas starts with a day of rest for Argentina
Not that we needed it or we wanted it, but we have it. The FIBA Americas Tournament in Las Vegas, will start on Wednesday and Argentina won't be playing. But from Thursday, day of our debut against Uruguay until the end of the first round, we'll play 8 matches in consecutive days. The FIBA Americas Tournament qualifies the two first teams to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Those are the more relevant news as of now. I'll be back posting and commenting as soon as I can. Would love to see some updates from you, of course!

Could somebody confirm with me, did Federico FAZIO started for Sevilla FC against Real MADRID in the Supercopa de España?

Oh yes, I'm just lost for word when I heard this.

Maxi LOPEZ will join Russian side FC Moskva, who already have Maxi MORALEZ, Pablo BARRIENTOS & Héctor BRACAMONTE

Heinze is now saying that he may appeal the decision barring him from going to Liverpool. You never know, maybe he wants to stay in England, maybe he feels he would get more playing time....who knows.

Match just started. So far we have more posession and we seem to be trying to keep the ball on the ground(which is good). Messi is 19 where as Rodriguez is back to 18.

Nearly a big mistake by Ustari and our defence(mis communication) almost cost us a goal. Messi seems to be playing midfield for now instead of his usual position. Milito just had a decent opportunity but its out for a corner. Were definatly playing better.

Penalty for Norway. Trip by Mascherano. But it seemed like a bit of a dive... DAMNIT! Ustari got a hand on it and it went in. 1-0 Norway.

Nice individual play by Messi which leads to us getting a free kick. Messi and Maxi together for the free kick. Messi pass to Maxi, Maxi pass back, Messi cross in and its header away by Norway. The height difference is really starting to show now.

2 on 1 for Norway but the player blasts it high and wide.

Robben goes to Real Madrid. Deja vu for Saviola ? I know Robben might not be a 90' minute player anymore, but still it's troubling. It's nice to see Argentinos playing for the powerhouses, but Javier might be better off finding a smaller home where he can shine and be appreciated. Barring injury to others, he may be slated for a semi back up role again.

how does Robben compete for Saviola's position? One is a winger/wingback.

Saviola looked impressive today, despite not scoring a goal or even an assist. The shot he made was good, and the idea before the shot to ditch last defender was brilliant, but the angle was locked down and his wide post shot went inches wide... He also made an attempt to assist Insua for goal, which came after a magical sequence inside norwegian box. Fuck real madrid if they don't realize the rabbit is the best creative forward they have!

and fuck all the people telling me Lucho and Lavezzi deserved a shot. Those 2 on the wings wasted our entire first half. Lavezzi didn't do shit, Lucho hit 2 from outside the box and neither was even close to scoring.

And fuck Diego Milito while we're at it too. We need a better replacement for Crespo. Just look at this guy. 70 minutes into a friendly before his season even started, he's got TWO cramps. What kind of physical condition is this? And the headers, OMG, that's for the ones he actually hit....

noticed when Gago went online, mascher was free to displace left n right and make brilliant tackles?
And Gago only had chance to distribute 3 balls... Imagine the duo played 90 minutes...

Why can't Basile just grow out of his shell and learn some new tricks. He certainly managed to make what could of been a creative match up into a boring game.

Real agree deal for Heinze

U17 team won 4-1... Salvio and Mazzolo is very well... Salvio's crosses to Mazzolo's head... i'd like this duo...

Rio,

Let's have a talk. I am befuddled by your almost ceaseless confrontive, and at times abrasive manner on this blog. Yes, you are right, Robben is a winger and may not pose a danger to Saviola's playing time. It certainly may be that I am quite wrong. Rather than your curt retort however, you may have indulged my ignorance and attempted to edify me in a more civil manner. Following which you engage in a number of "fucks" when you refer to some players (Lucho, D. Milito and Lavezzi) that some posters to this blog support. Everyone has an opinion, including the less knowledgeable amoung us, and though we may at times be incorrect, I believe everyone here is entitled to express their opinions without having to read a needlessly confontive, dismissing attack. In other words, what is the point of turning differences of opinion into what appears to be thinly veiled personal attacks ? I don't see the greater good being served. You are clearly a very well informed guy, and when you avoid the manner noted above I like reading your posts. As you know I have also posted on your blog. I hope you take my comments as constructive and not as retaliation. Also, this is obviously not my blog and I don't pretend to speak for anyone other than myself. Suerte.

hi johnnny.

Those comments after first sentense weren't directed at you. Or really noone from this board. I've had alot of friends and 'foes' trying to argue that those 2 were good enough for spots on the NT, and pretty sure my points proven now.

Keep in mind that these are preparations for the real thing. WC qualifiers are at our door step.

I apologize if anyone felt my language had been insulting. And if you guys wanted to keep the board clean, I can censor out the words. From the background I came from, those really don't mean much besides expressing the feeling of frustrations and disappointments. I didn't care since it takes a grown up to understand the game anyway.

Thanks for the response Rio. Certainly passion has it's place and this is a very passionate board when it comes to Argentina football. In fact, I have been known to throw around some pretty rough language myself, on this board, and elsewhere. The message I would want to convey has more to do with establishing a sense of respect for others opinions and avoiding needless provocations, whether they are carried out with "bad" language or not. You know, the "talk radio" mentality. Thanks for again for your consideration.
